Listening to Locke now. You all are right, he is speaking about this like it's a certainty to happen.
Pretty wild if so. I've pounded the table on the rebuild but it's just so refreshing to see a front office with the boldness to push it through.
I was a hard no on Simmons but now am warming up to him:
1) Literally no one wants him, so we could probably squeeze another asset out of the deal
2) Massive upside if he plays and plays well here
3) If he sucks, it means we're abysmal next year and almost assuredly in the top 4-6 of a loaded...
IMO, in order:
1) Any/all of their unprotected FRPs
2) 2023 Dallas FRP
3) Obi Toppin
Are the ones I'm really excited about.
I have no read on what RJ Barrett will command on his next deal.
I tend to agree. I'm a big Obi Toppin fan; still think his best ball is ahead of him by a massive stretch. If we could swap Barrett for another 1-2 more firsts (at least one unprotected), that would be my preference.
Hard for me to believe that. Getting some semblance of a "Godfather" haul is sort of a given trading someone of DM's perceived value.
So far this offseason, they've traded 2 starters for 5 FRPs + developmental players + Pat Bev, lol. Pretty clear to me if they move him it was an intentional...
That's what I'm referring to. Blatantly shutting people down who are clearly reading between the lines, which he has a tendency to do all the time. I do hear him you on him reporting what he hears, but (a) it didn't take a rocket scientist to assume this is possible regardless of what he was...
Donovan to the Cavs is not the craziest idea to me (from CLE perspective). Wonder if they'd want him to pair with Garland. They have plenty of garbage contracts to send back + their own draft capital.
