Woj says the Jazz are listening to offers for Mitchell

Tony Jones being wrong about this makes me very happy. Andy for the win.
I feel a bit for Tony... he reports what he hears. He doesn't add his own guesses to that report... which is fine. He goes a little far with some on twitter when he's like "the Jazz aren't trading Donovan".

That's what I'm referring to. Blatantly shutting people down who are clearly reading between the lines, which he has a tendency to do all the time. I do hear him you on him reporting what he hears, but (a) it didn't take a rocket scientist to assume this is possible regardless of what he was hearing, and (b) other reporters clearly had superior sources.

Tony was pretty explicit in his articles that if Utah got the Godfather haul, they'd have a hard time saying no.

Hard for me to believe that. Getting some semblance of a "Godfather" haul is sort of a given trading someone of DM's perceived value.

So far this offseason, they've traded 2 starters for 5 FRPs + developmental players + Pat Bev, lol. Pretty clear to me if they move him it was an intentional, premeditated decision.

They can say whatever they want, all actions thus far point to that being the case.

Here is my left field theory... we have a deal with Toronto (they ain't sending Scottie for KD) that we like... We get Toronto's picks unprotected and OG/Trent Jr. who we are routing to a team like Sacramento or NO for a couple unprotected picks (NO owns LA picks unprotected we'd want).

So now NY can pony up the 7-8 picks they need to or miss out on him.

Circumstances appears to make us forget what DM is capable of when he's at 100% within a healthy group... neither of which happened last season.
The godfather haul is mandatory here.

So isn't Trading Mitchell and tanking for 2023 the best plan, considering we have our own 2023 pick (correct?). I'm not sure which of our own picks we still have, but I think Locke said we don't have our own 2024 pick. As of right now I don't think we have any picks for 2024 (unless we get one in a Mitchell Trade).

Our 2024 pick is top 10 protected.

I think after DM is traded we are going to figure out if he is a winning player, or a high volume scorer that doesn't actually help you win.

Part of me wonders if DM asked for this once he saw that the return for Gobert wasn't going to do much for the Jazz in 22-23. Can't blame Gobert any more.

I think numbers 1/2 is really good for us.. if its number 3 he still gets out but the return is likely worse.

3 has the same effect as 1/2 Donovan doesn't want to be the bad guy and publicly demand the trade. We've been hearing that for awhile, and I believe it. Don cares a lot about what people think about him.

Whether this is good or not is whether or not we take the RJ Barrett bait.

I think 1/2 indicate we have leverage... 3 indicates he wants out but doesn't mean we have leverage. The trade will be the trade regardless of the list.. and we may never know.

Tone will tell us all 6 months after everyone knows it…..from Derrick Favors perspective.
