A couple from this offseason irked me:
1) Choosing Thabo over Jerebko
2) Not signing Bjelica when he wanted to come here. A playmaking, shooting 4 would have been just perfect.
His defense is not even in the same stratosphere as those guys. In fact, there's very little evidence that he's even an above-average defender besides the eyetests of his supporters.
Bad Rubio is a really, really bad player. But even Bad Rubio is still the best point guard on the roster by a clear margin. Unfortunately Dante sucks and Neto can't play vs. starting guards.
Well yeah he has 4 steals and 3 blocks in 330 minutes. He also has 9 deflections, 5 loose balls recovered, and 1 charge drawn (last game, trending UP!). Athletic freak Georges Niang has 9 deflections and 5 loose balls recovered in 119 minutes.
And yet he got eviscerated by Raymond Felton in the playoffs.
I don't think Dante is a very good defender at all. He's very good at looking the part of a defender, which fools fans. Really this year's Memphis game was the only game i felt like his defense was impactful (and it was impactful...
Because in the open court there are driving lanes for him to get to the hoop. He can't really do anything else so he's hurt badly by playing against set defenses.
In the interest of accuracy i have to say that the only quarter Ricky had 2 turnovers in was the 1st and the only quarter he missed >1 shot in was the 4th.
