It's great that you take effort in this. Reading the classics really changes the way a person can feel and live the life. They are some kind of magical books that you do not forget after even the 1st time you read, while you can forget the entire concept of a today's popular book that excites you, it gets lost after 2-3 weeks in your memory. My woman told me that they are called classics for a reason.
You see, I was not a good reader through my childhood and adolescence. One of the laziest regarding finishing a book, or even starting it. When I was accepted to the sociology department in my local college, things started to shift majorly. And one of the things that changed most was my reading habits. Now I enter a different world when I read. I still consider myself a lazy reader though.
Six years ago, I have served for the Turkish Military temporarily as my obligation as a male citizen. My job in there was a salesman just like in real life, I had a little shop carved out of a steel cargo container with doors and windows and stalls. I have spent 5 months there and read all I could found. One of them was Les Miserables. It was so unique that it quickly became one of my reading milestones.
Thank you for sharing this and keep your little buggers' heads on those classics.
