Ok for those of us who couldn't listen in what did he say? I am assuming from Franklins response it must have been good news!
 
It was literally exactly what Thriller said. KOC refused to talk about finances or the recent play of the team at all. When Locke went that direction he said "You're going to go into coaching stuff here, I'd rather not talk about it." He pretty much said they're happy with being 3 games out of 1st in the division and just a few games out of 3rd in the West and that there will be no changes.
 
Since when have we ever had a valuable trading piece anyway? The Jazz are notably using inferior players.. you can't use inferior players to get better players without also mortgaging your future. This franchise just isn't capable of that.

In KOC's defense, you do not acknowledge the team is struggling or you are actively shopping guys. It lowers what chemistry and trade value our players have left.
 
Even if we win 70% of the remaining games, we will get to only about 51 or 52 wins, lower than last season's tally. Just to put things in perspective. If the top brass is seriously committed to making a deep run then just hoping that this team would tide over this rough wave and come together would be delusional. Especially when it looks like every time Okur takes a step forward he ends up two steps bakward.

Just consider our last 10 games. We've literally wasted 10 percent (tithing) losing to complete dumpers. Losses to Washington, NJ, etc always come back to bite us in the butt. Those games that we "should" have lost (Miami, Orlando, etc) have now been negated by the games we "should" have won.

Once again, we've seen this movie before. Thanks to the last month of patheticness, we're right on track to earning a 6-8 seed, playing on the road, and becoming the punching bag of a team more talented and quite honestly, more dedicated than us. A team that didn't waste 10 percent of the season playing horrible defense, overplaying their crappy SG, and moaning to the media.
 
Can anyone name me ONE major player for major player trade Rip Van O'Conner has ever made for the Jazz?

Haven't you heard, we're going 10-0 in those last 10 games until the trade deadline and everyone on Jazzfanz will change their minds about trading anyone... (except come deadline, KOC will trade AK and piss Deron off because we'll finally have "chemistry" and then we'll flop into the 8th seed and get trounced by the Spurs in the 1st round.)

SO, the answer to your question is 5 minutes before the deadline.

As it's politically expedient to blame injuries, Okur was the fall guy. He got after Raja's offense, but again, it's something Raja knows and should not hurt a grown man's feelings. Thriller nailed the rest.

Why do you KOC bashers always move the stick like this? It used to be: KOC is afraid to make a trade. He brought us Deron Williams, Kyle Korver, and Al Jefferson through trades. Now it's: Yes but he didn't trade a major player to get them. So what? Why is it a positive to trade major players? Every time the Jazz have had a sink-or-swim moment, they always swim. Getting Deron was a coup. Getting Jefferson was a coup. Every time I start to get nervous about the direction of the franchise, KOC makes magic happen.

KOC's role is not to tell the truth to the media, his role is to play his cards close to his vest. Like a good poker player, his job is to be secretive, patient, and give away no give aways. It was Larry's role to tell the truth to the press, and we don't have anybody doing that anymore, so we feel the presence of that gap, as Jazz fans.

But I think O'Conner does a terrific job at everything but drafting -- and that's hit or miss with every team in the NBA. There's no GM you can look at in the league who drafts consistently well.

We have to recognize that KOC has limitations imposed on him by ownership. Those limitations don't necessarily reflect the quality of the job he does, they're just part of the reality of not having a billionaire for an owner.

I was an O'Conner basher for a while. I couldn't fathom why he didn't trade Carlos Boozer. I was upset that he traded away Brewer and Maynor -- but then he turned Brewer and Boozer into Jefferson, and you couldn't really fault him. It's not really his fault that the Jefferson trade didn't make the wins rain down. He made it happen. His job is to make things happen, and he does. Ergo, he does a good job.

I wish we still had Matthews. I wish we still had Maynor. But you have to recognize that those were money-saving decisions. That falls on ownership.

I love the Raja for Wes was a straight up swap. With all the upfront money Matthews is making like 7-8 million this year. If we could have gotten him for 4 million or less it would have been done.

Great points. IF the Millers said we can be 20 million over the luxury tax I think he would be able to do what the Lakers, Dallas, and other free spending teams do, but the bottom line is only a small minority of teams spend the crazy money.The new CBA may fix this anyway.
