What's new

12-11-2010, Jazz @ Mavs, 6:30 Utah Time

The way nba officials call the game make it almost unwatchable. Especially when they feel like they aren't having enough impact on the game and they start taking over... Bavetta is 71 for example. Someone that old should not be an official, it's a joke. But the NBA doesn't care because the product that they are putting out there is contrived and works for their marketing plan.

I seriously wonder why I watch this garbage. I almost with there was another professional sports team in utah to cheer for, cause the nba product is pretty bleck.

Jazz are rallying though... hopefully they can keep it up and get the W here in the last minutes of the game.

Dallas is good but they still aren't built for the playoffs. Their bigs outside of Dork are too offensively challenged (unlike the Lakers) and Dork NEVER gets enough help in the postseason. Memo will be able to provide more offense and we can take care of this team at home. I see the Lakers, Spurs, Nuggets, and Jazz all being able to beat Dallas.

Dallas just hit a ton of 3's, it sucks, but it happens.

Considering how unbelievably hot they were, this was a great loss. We had a chance to win this game after the mavs put us away in the first 6 minutes. I am confident that this Jazz team is capable of beating anyone in the league, including the spurs, Celtics, and Mavs.

how amazing was that first qtr by the Mavs? How amazing was the comeback by the Jazz? DWill needs he own appreciation thread. While i wish the Jazz won, i was impressed with their tenacity in spite of getting down (and arriving at 3am in Dallas.)

Here's what I've noticed... the Mavericks shoot better than we do. It makes us easier to defend than them, so they sag off our wings and make life hard for Al and Millsap.

Dallas is a face-up shooting team. They have very little in the post. They can be guarded one on one, and their hot shooting doesn't usually last for a 7-game series. But when Dirk, Caron, and Terry are hitting shots, they're really tough.

I fear that having Memo will be a disadvantage against some teams (vs. what Utah has now, unless he stays as a backup), but Dallas is probably one team where Okur's height is a net plus.

And given that the Mavs' non-Dork 4/5 rotation is tall but not particularly dynamic, MO can probably handle any of them. Millsap was a liability--again--AK wasn't particularly good, and Price had to come over and help on the double team because hed didn't trust 6'7" PM agaisnt 7'0" Nowitzki. With Memo out there alongside Jefferson, that's not a lot of speed but yes a lot of height to counter the whiny German. And oh, I wish someone would commit more hard fouls.

The other thing is that playing a zone against Dallas seems about the worst thing you can do. They'll just pass around the perimeter and take open looks.

Sloan's post-game interview made it sound like the disaster of the first 6 or 12 minutes was all on the players (except he might've said "we" a few times). At the first sign of defensive ineffectiveness, I would've sat down Millsap (or whoever was defending Dork), with Elson getting specific instructions to stop Nowitski, or FE is coming back out of the game. At least Sloan was willing to call a time out, but he should know by now that there are a few bigs that Millsap is simply too small to handle. And yes, the team needs more out of Kirilenko, too.

Why did ronnie price leave terry wide open for 3 to help out on dirk? Dirk is liek 7 feet tall. Why elave terry open for a wide open shot when hes an amazing shooteR?

they couldn't just let dirk close in on the hoop and draw a foul. terry is hitting 35% from three this season, his lowest since he was a rookie. hard to blame ronnie in this case, IMO. terry just made the shot.

.....and speaking of OJ Mayo, having him on the Jazz would make the other team feel like they're playing against two D.Wills.
