I'm pretty sure the Knicks have a better record when Melo doesn't play.
My power Tankings
1. Magic
2. Bucks
3. 76ers
4. kings
5. Nets
New players in town. Nets will tank and russian boss will allow it. kings are tankers nobody talks about.
if trey didn't miss any games, we would be lucky to be in tank top 10. that's a scary thought.

5. Jazz
Jazz being in the West is the only thing keeping this tank alive at all.
We're probably top 4 if we were in the East.. lol..
leastern conference all over again. i've never seen a 2 horse race like that in a while.
It's crazy how bad they are. There's virtually no chance that anyone other Miami and Indiana make it to the Conference Finals.
It is rather funny that Brooklyn traded away their future for this two year window and everyone thought Boston would suck and tank, yet it's Boston in the playoffs and Brooklyn surrounded in the standings by a bunch of teams who are actively trying to be as woeful as the Nets.
Damn warriors.
Refs screwed the clippers
The problem is, that's not essentially what we'd be doing, unless you have some way of rigging the lottery that you're not yet revealing. No I got it. The jazz aren't tanking right now, that's the thing.
Why not trade away some key pieces for nothing? We could easily trade Marvin away for nothing (a future 2nd rounder or something). Why not trade away Hayward or Burks? If Hayward's chances of resigning are slim, why not unload him right now? If burks doesn't figure into the future, get something out of while you still can!
Trade away a good piece or two for assets or a player who will probably never play.
The goal is to suck so bad you can grab a star or two in the draft. The goal isn't to suck but not suck enough to bring you out of suckville. Do we really need another role player like Hayward or Burks on this team?
You don't think that if we traded burks/Hayward and Marvin for basically nothing right now and upped Kanter's mins to 30+ that we wouldn't fall to the bottom 2-3 in the league by the end of the season?
We are essentially trading Hayward/Burks and Marvin for Jabari Parker. That's a steal my friend, a steal. 1 role player and 1 vet for a franchise player.
So our can't lose season has transformed into a can't win season? Not only that but that we don't have a strong enough "core" for a franchise player to be all that we need to contend. In other words, we're ****ed either way.

Come on gameface, you are smarter than that....... You act as if next year all we can do is draft a guy with our pick and then roll out the exact same roster as this year + the rookie we draft.
Next year we have 2 picks in the epicest draft, and we have a good amount of money to go after a free agents to either improve our bench by a lot, or pick up a very nice starter.
So next year our core (of which burke, burks, and favors are all looking pretty good.... plus I think we all believe Gordon is better than what we are seeing) Plus the franchise player you mentioned (jabari/randle/wiggins/embiid), plus another good role player with the GS pick (McDermott or whoever), Plus a quality starter or a few good bench players (from free agency), Plus maybe marvin, evans, gobert, neto.
That's a pretty damn quality roster...... Now you let that roster simmer for 2 or 3 years and I honestly believe that we have a contender for a title (no homer)
The BIGGEST piece to that title contender though is our own draft pick being in the top 4 next year though, which is in SERIOUS danger........... hopefully DL has a few tricks up his sleeve
Yeah some of that money we thought we had to set aside to max Kanter early in this year can be safely spent elsewhere.

I'm with you, but what worries me is the Jazz either overvaluing a few of our pieces or things falling apart during the simmer process and constantly adding 2-3 more years to the timetable. As we wait for things to come together pieces fall off the back end faster than we can add what we need to "get there"
tl;dr perpetual rebuild
