14th Tank Platoon

Same very tank race important games tonight:

LAL @ CLE
DET @ ORL
BOS @ PHI
TOR @ SAC
DAL @ MEM
MIL @ DEN

Highlighted who I want to win and either way in the DAL/MEM, LAL/CLE and BOS/PHI games the Jazz win.

Gotta go with the Lakers tonight... They are riding a 7 game loosing streak. We need them to get some confidence back.

Looks like the tank is really shaping up into four categories:

1. Bottom-3: Milwaukee (9), Orlando (13) and Philadelphia (15). Milwaukee too far ahead to be caught. Orlando IS that bad. Philly has a few more wins, but they're also rumored to have Turner on the trading block. Major tank in 2nd half.

2. Tier 2 (#4-#8): Boston, Cleveland, Sacramento, LA Lakers, Utah.
a. Rondo is back for Boston. Does that mean more wins?
b. Varejao is back, but Cleveland is a mess with players on the verge of mutiny. They'll likely make some kind of move at the deadline, but will it improve or hurt them?
c. Sacramento is looking to improve. Gay is back and so is Cousins. Prediction is more wins.
d. Lakers may move Pau for Okafor and picks. Even with Kobe in another month, this team is terrible. Likely to finish worse than Utah.
e. Utah: No doubt RJ and MW are being shopped. But their high salaries make putting together a deal difficult, if not virtually impossible. Bad contracts or other assets would need to be included and I don't see Lindsey willing to do either, not when he can have a ton of cap space to go after FA's simply by letting all those contracts expire.

3. Tier 3 (#9-11). New York, Detroit and New Orleans are 3-4 games ahead of the group with 16 wins. Keep an eye on this group, but doubt any of them will fall into the bottom 8.

4. Tier 4 (#12-14) Denver, Minnesota and Memphis are on the fringe of the playoffs. Hoping Memphis can catch GS.

Prediction: No chance at one of the worst 3 records. Jazz at best could finish #4, at worst #8. Likely is at #6.

At this point i would be happy with #6

If the Warriors end up in the lottery, I hope like Hell that the pick jumps up into to top 3. That would be so fitting. Warriors fans would be SO pissed for years over that deal to make space for Iguodala. Especially with the unprotected pick coming up in 2017 as well.

I was raised on MA$E's rape music bro.

Everything rhymes with everything when you need it too.

Word

I guess it depends on how you pronounce Stauskas. I was saying it more as a Stowwskas, but then I did it as Stahskas and it worked very well. People nearby probably think I'm tarded.

Good post.

I agree with the bottom 3 being untouchable.

As far as Tier 2, there is some cause for hope with Boston and L.A. like you said, but my gut tells me those 2 teams are a lost cause as well.

The two biggest teams to root for IMO are the Cavs and Kings. Neither team is focused on tanking right now, but the Cavs have the propensity to. Kings have talent and with Cousins and Gay back they could string together some wins, but it's worth keeping in mind that they are the Sacramento Kings.

I'm hoping for the #6 spot, which I'd be thrilled with, all things considered.

I agree with that post for the most part as well. I sitll have hope on the Philly front though. I guess it'll depend on if they actually get Turner out. Also all this depends on DL doing nothing to further the tank in the second half.

I'd be thrilled with a top 5 pick and a 14th pick from GSTankers.

**** ya.
That is basically best case scenario imo

Best case scenario:

Jazz pick wins lotto, jazz draft embiid
Warriors pick wins either second or third pick in lotto. Jazz draft Parker.
Trade enes kanter for Aaron Gordon.

Burke
Hayward
Parker
Favors
Embiid

Burks, Neto, gobert, Evans off the bench.

Did a little work myself and here is the remaining schedule for the bottom 8 teams.

- Lakers will get killed(13 games against tier 1 teams. Really?)

- The Kings have 21 games against tier 3-6 teams. Gay and Cousins are playing again, so they could do work...hopefully!

- The Celtics have just 4 games against tier 1 teams left, so they could to some work as well. Let's pray for Rondo.

- The 76ers are playing 11 games against tier >5 teams maybe they can win some more games.

Other than that it's quite balanced I would say. BTW didn't gave much thought about the tiers so there could be some disagreements.
