14th Tank Platoon

Hoping for another good night for the tank!!

Jazz @ Dallas - Doubly good if Dallas wins as they are right on GSTs heels

Cleveland @ Washington - Go Cavs!!

Sacramento @ Boston - Win-win

Denver @ New York - Go Denver!!! Narrow that GST gap!!

Minny @ Nawlins - Kinda win-win but I'm pulling for Nawlins here

Lakers @ Philly - win-win! Pulling for Philly though, still (always) hate the Lakers.

If things go right (Jazz lose, Cavs and Philly win) then the Jazz are uncontested for the 4th pick and only 1 game out of 3rd. That would also place GST only a 1/2 game ahead of Dallas and Phoenix and the 8th seed.
For me:
Cavs obviously
boston cause i think they are legitimately tanking and might try to trade rondo
New york cause they are still close to the jazz even if they are not tanking and you never know if an injury could hit them again.
New orleans cause they are the bigger threat to the jazz pick
Lakers cause i want the laker draft pick to be as bad as possible and i dont really think we have a chance against philly in the tank race

I am torn on who is better for Utah in the Celtics/Kings game. Kings have Gay and Cousins back but Celtics got Rondo back as well.

To me it's easy. You root for the team that is most likely to intentionally tank, which is the Celtics.

The Kings are a team that IMO will actually try and win every game they play this year. Our only hope of out tanking the Celtics is if they accidentally win too many games before they go into mega tank mode the last month or so of the season.

Just looked back at the Cavs drafting history and man they are just horrendous at evaluating talent, developing it and then keeping it.

In 2013 - They had the 1st (Bennett) and 19th (karasev) picks
In 2012 - They had the 4th (Waiters) and 24th (Jared Cunningham) picks
In 2011 - They had 1st (Irving) and 4th (Tristan Thompson) picks.

Right before Lebron in 2003 they did this:

In 2002 - They had the 6th (Dajuan Wagner?) pick
In 2001 - They had the 8th (Diop) and 20th (Brendan Haywood) picks
In 2000 - They had the 7th (Jamal Crawford) pick.
In 1999 - They had the 8th (Andre Miller) pick.

They either draft good players (Miller, Crawford) and lose/trade them or pick absolute crap (Wagner, Bennett, Waiters). That team needs a new owner and a completly new organization.

@ UGLI and Fish. I concede the Boston v. Sactown argument. Go Boston!!!

We aren't going to get the #1 pick so my measuring stick is... If the Jazz get a better pick than the Lakers I will consider this year a success.

You never know. It's all random. Jazz would have as good of a chance as anyone else has had at their position going into the lottery.

Cleveland is clearly a case of drafting for need vs. BPA. So if the Cavs finish ahead of the Jazz after the lottery, let's hope they reach for someone like Saric. With Deng a FA, they need a SF. If Wiggins or Parker are off the board, maybe they fall in love with a guy like Hood and draft him a few spots early. Or, perhaps they'd be willing to trade down a couple of spots (provided Utah is at 6-8 and needs to move up) if the Jazz give them both 1st's. Utah was able to buy it's way back into the 1st round last year. Perhaps we could see a similar strategy unfold. Utah's pick + GS's to move up. The 2nd rounder + cash to get a late first.

Gilbert's comments indicate Cleveland will be buyers at the trade deadline. I actually think he shops the pick because of their draft woes, and lets face it, they're not going to end in the top 3 which is where tier 1 ends.

I don't think that Cleveland's front office even understands that you can trade down. It wouldn't surprise me to eventually find out that the Cleveland front office is a Borat-like movie and the lottery kid is making the picks.

Well I guess we can't all be right about things.

Yikes.

Can we trade Richard Jefferson to Cleveland for that kid they send to the lottery? That would be a solid pickup!

3 for 3 so far. Orlando and Cleveland both pulled out upset wins, Lakers win as well. NY and Detroit are both leading big, and Jazz are down. Sac vs Boston is a toss up. Already a good night for the tank, and could end up being great.

Just what I was thinking! It looks like a great night for the tank.Tank on!

Wow, Orlando over OKC. Clevelend wins. Boston wins. Lakers win (well, that was a "push'). And both Detroit (vs Brooklyn) and NY (vs Denver) have big leads so those two should also win. Oh what a night!!!

Only need a Utah loss, which seems assured. I guess a perfect night would also need a New Orleans win, but I won't quibble if Minnesota comes out the victor.

Fantastic night so far!

Lakers, Cavs and Magic win!

Jazz are losing and Celtics, Knicks and Pistons are winning!!!

I think you can close the refrigerator door on the Dallas/Utah game.

Jazz all alone in 4th place! And only 1 win ahead of Philly and Orlando.

Best night for the tank this season

And a back-to-back against a well-rested Miami tomorrow night. That should be a loss, inching us closer to the #3. Now if someone would just trade for Williams and/or Jefferson.
