And back on topic...a couple of good games for the tank
Cleveland @ PHI
Orlando @ Milwaukee

Over the next 1 1/2 weeks, Orlando plays Milwaukee, Cleveland, New York and Philadelphia (2x). Excellent outlook for them to either pick up a few wins, or for the others to do the same.

Since I have time, here is a look at upcoming schedules for the teams closest to the Jazz (next 10 games for each):

Sacramento: GS, Bos, @Den, Hou, @LAL, Min, NO, @Mil, @Tor, @BKN.
Boston: @LAL, @SAC, @Utah, Atl, Ind, GS, BKN, DET, @IND, NY.
LA Lakers: Hou, Bos, BKN, @Ind, @Mem, Sac, @Port, NO, LAC, @Den
Cleveland: @Phi, Orl, @Tor, Was, Tor, @OKC, Utah, @MEM, SA, @Cha
New York: @Mem, @NO, @Orl, @Atl, Dal, @MIA, GS, @Chi, @Det, @Min
Utah: Bkn, @Por, Min, Bos, Pho, @Cle, @Ind, @Mil, @Was, @NY

Cleveland and Utah, IMO, have the easiest schedules. Sacramento has some winnable games. Boston's next 10 are brutal and NY plays a bunch on the road. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz climb (fall?) to the 9th spot. But not to worry, schedules turn around after that.

Feel bad for y'all who follow this stuff on a game-to-game, team-to-team basis.

I'm bored!
I don't necessarily follow it game-by-game. My objective is to (hopefully) show that although Utah might pick up a few wins right after the break, each team has easy/hard stretches. Jazz could still very well end up #5. Not likely, but possible. My best guess is #7. I think the Lakers have now cashed it in (trying to trade Hill, likely will have Kobe sit, negotiating with Silver for a top-3 spot). New York might slide due to their schedule. But Sacramento and Cleveland could finish with more wins than Utah.

It will be interesting to see if Utah holds out any players on Wed night. If Marvin or RJ don't play, that could indicate a deal is being seriously discussed.

A little more schedule analysis based on Home vs. Away games. There's cause for concern regarding New York. Just 1 game up on the Jazz, but they only have 11 home games left. Boston and Detroit also play fewer home games. Lakers have a home-heavy schedule left (hope that helps them!).

That scares me. We have more home games left than 5 of those teams and only 1 team has more home games than us

the only teams that matter right now IMO are the Kings, Cavs, Knicks, and Pistons.

If I'm feeling pessimistic I would include New Orleans.

The bottom five teams are set in stone in some order of...

1) Bucks
2) Sixers
3) Magic
4) Lakers
5) Celtics

Agreed..... unless the black mamba returns.

Kobe would be enough to get us back into contention with them

Pau Gasol coming back healthy for the majority of the remainder of the season is more important than Kobe coming back IMO.

Gasol can still play on a high level, that has remained to be seen if Kobe can do that if he returns.

Overall I think the Lakers will be better than we think. They ended the 1st half poorly because of a lot of injuries to Young, Gasol, Henry, among others.

If Young and Gasol come back they win games. Marshall will put the team on his back doe.
