Hey it’s All-Star weekend so got me looking back. So I am around 15 living in Salt Lake in the 80’s . Had been collecting autographs around Jazz games for a few years by then.
So I knew the in and outs in terms of attending shoot around on game days, hotels, etc.

I was collecting cards and Star company had put out a 5x7 set from the 85 dunk contest.
Obviously the memories are equivalent to the actual signatures. So I remember getting Griff, Nance, Stansbury & Drexler at the Salt Palace.
Dominique Wilkins signed at a Hawks team practice at the Sports Mall. I can’t remember the name of the suburb tho lol. Too many years ago!
Dr. J was at the downtown Marriott on his farewell visit 87-88. Wooldridge was late in his career at the Richfield Coliseum when he was with Philly.
MJ of course you can’t forget. 86-87 season Bulls game day. Left school early to head to Marriott. Didn’t see them so my instinct was Crossroads mall, as I had seen many players there over the years.
Sure as hell we are in the basement at the “Tilt” arcade and here comes half the bulls team. Even though I had got MJ in person before his rookie year, it was still a religious experience!
The man was amazingly cool for how famous he was already. Naturally my friends were haunted years later as MJ became a phenomenon..everyone had a piece of paper to get signed that day and I was ahead of the game with ball cards. Good times!
