What's new

2 Days from tomorrow

Take it easy, I was trying to do two things at once when I made that post, I'm surprised there aren't more than two errors. Anyway, what does it matter, this whole countdown thing is two days off and the two of you are the only other posters who are following.

Everyone knows Karl Malone is the NBA's 2nd all-time leading scorer, did you also know that Karl never lead the league in points per game average but was 2nd five times.

Randy Livingston signed a training camp contract with the Jazz on October 2, 2001. He was cut before the season started. He bounced around with brief NBA stints here and there before signing a 10-day contract with the Jazz on March 2, 2005. He played in 17 games for the Jazz. He scored 2 points on 2-2 FT shooting in his first game with the Jazz. After his time with the Jazz, Livingston played for 2 NBA teams, including playing 22 minutes for the Bulls in the 2005-06 season.

Derek Fisher was traded to the Jazz from the Warriors on July 12, 2006 in exchange for Keith McLeod, Andre Owens, and Devin Brown. McLeod played 2 seasons with the Jazz before this trade and played with 2 teams in the 2006-07 season after the Warriors traded him to the Pacers. These were the only 2 trades McLeod was involved in during his NBA career. Prior to being sent to the Pacers, McLeod started 2 games for the Warriors. Andre Owens has played with 2 NBA teams (Jazz and Pacers - note that he wasn't part of the trade that sent McLeod to the Pacers). Devin Brown never played for the Warriors, making 2 (with Andre Owens) out of the 3 players that the Jazz used to trade for Fisher that never played for Golden State.

Let's get back to Fisher. He played all 82 regular-season games for the Jazz, making it is 2nd consecutive season without missing any games. He shot almost 2 (1.9) 3-point shots per game. Now let's get to what we most remember Fisher for while with the Jazz. Sometime near the end of the first-round series against the Rockets, Fisher found out that his then-11-month-old daughter had retinablastoma, a type of eye cancer. This required surgery at a New York hospital. These details weren't known at the time. All that got out to the media was that one of Fisher's children was ill.

In game 2 of the 2nd-round series against the Warriors, Derek Fisher was on the active roster (per his request) even though he wasn't sure he'd make it in time for the game. Fisher flew into Salt Lake with the game already in progress. He hurried to the arena and got dressed. He got a loud ovation when he exited the tunnel late in the 3rd quarter. Coach Sloan sent him straight to the scorer's table to check in. In the 4th quarter Fisher make a big defensive play when he forced Baron Davis into a turnover. In overtime, Fisher, who hadn't shot a basketball in several days, made a huge three pointer with 1:06 left in overtime to stretch the Jazz lead to 6. Fisher would later make 2 FTs and the Jazz won the game by 10.

After the season, Fisher asked to be released from his contract with the Jazz to try and relocate to a city where his daughter could get the care she needed. He was released on July 2, 2007.

As mentioned yesterday, Brevin Knight was acquired in a trade with the Clippers. The Jazz traded Jason Hart to get him. Knight averaged 2.4 ppg and 2.6 apg for the Jazz.

Prior to signing with the Jazz on April 9, 2012, Blake Ahearn played for 2 other NBA teams, the Heat and the Spurs. Ahearn played in 4 regular-season games for the Jazz, averaging 2.3 3PAs per game and 2.5 ppg. Ahearn made 2 3PFGs out of 9 attempts for a 22.2%. He also had 2 rebounds. In the playoffs Ahearn made 2 FGs and had 2 assists. He'll be trying to earn a spot on the Pacers' roster for this season.

The Grizzlies selected Blue Edwards away from the Jazz with the 2nd-to-last pick in the 1995 expansion draft. Edwards was in his 2nd stint with the Jazz.
Blue Edwards was traded for Jay Humphries - two times. He was traded to Milwaukee for Jay Humphries. The Bucks later traded Blue to Boston. The Jazz then traded Humphries to Boston for Edwards. The Grizzlies took Blue Edwards in the expansion draft at the end of that season, meaning Edwards played NBA basketball for teams in 2 countries, and for 2 teams with 2 Z's in their name.

Edwards famously two-timed his wife in Vancouver, having a child with his mistress. A messy custody battle ensued which involved race; Mrs Edwards was black, and became involved in the custody proceedings against the mistress, who was white. Mrs Edwards claimed the mistress would not be able to raise a "black" child. The court accepted this argument, but it was overturned on appeal. The movie "What Color is Love?" is based on this case.

In addition to his illegitimate son, Edwards also has twin daughters.

I didn't know that. I clearly wasn't as obsessed with the Jazz when I was 12 as I am now. Good, interesting post.

The Olsen Twins may be too stuck up to attend the Full House reunion, but that doesn't make them any less hot. I'm just barely commenting on that picture because I was mainly viewing this thread at work before and that picture showed up as a red x.

Marvin Williams was traded to the Jazz on July 11, 2012 (although the trade was agreed to on July 2). Marvin was the 2nd Williams the Jazz acquired this off-season. Williams was the #2 pick in the 2005 draft and he made his NBA debut on November 2, 2005. In his 2nd season Marvin averaged 2 turnovers per game.
