2 Solutions We Have On Our Roster Right Now

You need your bench unit to be able to provide you a variety of things. Points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, etc. Niang would be a nice piece for a bench unit that could get away with one guy who is just a sniper. Our other 4 guys aren't good enough for it. They need more help.

Look at Toronto's bench last season for reference. Versatile group.

you know DL will always find us a way to dig up some super short term solutions from somewhere, like a one year rental of PGs, or a half season rental of shootings......

I've seen more than enough of Ed Davis. Give his minutes to Bradley.
He’s so bad... having him screen is basically asking then to double your ball handler... he can’t catch the ball... isn’t providing the energy offensive rebounds... been okay on defense but so has Bradley... Ed is murdering the second unit offense.

In addition to all of this, it seems like he's really struggling to gab defensive rebounds lately. Rebounding is the one thing he's supposed to be really good at and if he can't even do that effectively then we can't afford to have him on the floor.

I thought Exum was supposed to be the culprit there ????

i'm not sure i'd want to cut niang minutes before cutting green and mudiay minutes

all in for bradley instead of davis, and to give it a ride to our 2nds, tho

Do you guys remember yesterday when I told you Ed was murdering the offense... well the real plus minus numbers came out today... Ed is the worst offensive center and the 2nd worst offensive player in the league... according to their measure.

You put Ed out there with the bench guys and they ain't scoring. Bradley is basically average on both offense and defense... average is going to make a meaningful difference.

I think I am just about to give up on RPM.
AD is 49thhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
And Tatum is 4th - with a top 5 DRPM. Give me a break. Will Barton is the best defender in the NBA. Tobias Harris is top 15.
And Gobert is in the same tier as Kanterman.

I think this stat can only mean anything after another 25 games or so...

Is Quin serious though. Exum has played 82 minutes for the season and about 50 in non-garbage time. 0 as lead guard.
And the Quin 'conspiracy theorists' are suppose to believe that Exum has been given a 'fair go'.
It just doesn't jibe given the problems being had on the bench.

He probably sucks in practices

Yeah if that's the case fair enough.
I heard Locke saying otherwise (but that was a few weeks ago).

Just doesn't quite make sense though. If they had given up on him, prob needed to deal him without playing him this year. Now they have given him about 50-60 non-garbage minutes (all out of position) - and they have cemented this view that he is one of the worst contracts in the NBA. So now assets might have to be attached to get off his deal.

Giving him 10-15 minutes everynight for 25 games seemed like a fair deal for both sides.

I think at this point, Conloy prob needs to go to the bench. Play 28-30 mins on there.

Ed Davis has been a good +/- player. The Jazz have to give him more time since the alternatives arent good.

I thought Niang was great against the Warriors. Pushed the pace on all his rebounds and got the Jazz into early offense.
I think great is a bit strong but I agree with your general thoughts on him last night.

The alternatives arent good..... But they may be better (so far Bradley has been better imo)

Beginning of the season :
Starting lineup :
Conley-Mitchell-Bogdanovich-O'Neale-Gobert - OFFRTG : 113.9 - DEFRTG : 97.6 - NETRTG : +16.3
This lineup has not been used since Conley injury.

Main Bench lineup
:
Mudiay-Mitchell-Ingles-Green-Davis - OFFRTG : 119.4 - DEFRTG : 71.2 - NETRTG : +48.2
This lineup has not been used since Davis injury.

Current lineup :
Starting lineup :
Mitchell-Ingles-Bogdanovich-O'Neale-Gobert - OFFRTG : 103.0 - DEFRTG : 102.5 - NETRTG : +0.5

Main Bench lineup :
Mudiay-Mitchell-Niang-Green-Davis - OFFRTG : 103.8 - DEFRTG : 125.9 - NETRTG : -22.2

Current problems :
- Conley injury
- With Conley's absence, Mitchell does too much
- Poor bench quality (too much G-league players)
- Davis and Gobert may not be 100%

Since Davis and Bradley have now played about the same number of minutes, I thought I'd compare their per-36 numbers. I'll leave you all to draw your own conclusions.

One of them seems to be clearly much better than the other. And is much younger. Seems like a no brainier.
