2011 draft.....

Again, I like Jimmer as a late first round, early second round pick. That is when you draft role players. You don't draft role players in the lottery. Jimmer will always be a backup. I think Smith could take over for Harris in a year or two when Harris's speed fails him.

This is true. He'll be a good back up, but never a starter on a contending team.
His stock has soared because of his big offensive numbers. His weaknesses will be destroyed in the NBA.
I don't want any more poor defenders on the Jazz.

Much rather take Kemba Walker with the second lotto pick over Jimmer, whose ceiling is a shorter, slower JJ Redick. Seems more like a late first, early second round pick to me. As for a non-PG, Kawhi Leonard really impressed me yesterday.

Williams is a terrible defender. Memphis is eating him alive inside. The commentators have called him out specifically for being non-existent on d.

Actually, in the last first/early 2nd round is usually when you draft players who wont be in the league in 3 years. You are lucky to even have late lottery picks turn out to be consistent role players in the league.

Irving did great in this first game back, depsite the terrible opponent and garbage time.

So, what if we get the No.1 pick? Do we draft Irving and trade Harris?

I think if you're number one you have to take Irving. If you guys haven't seen him play yet, do yourself a favor and take a gander at one of his highlight videos. This guy is a BEAST.

Barnes with a rough start, now looking good. There is something elite about this kid. The way he moves like a gazelle gliding through
defenders. 14 pts/6boards @ the half.

Irving is the only PG in the draft who I think has a chance to have a better career than Harris, so yes, I would take him.

Neh, we all think Irving sucks. :) Playing at Duke though he is clearly not urban enough for Utah. :)

Why exactly would we take Derrick Williams? Do we really need another undersized PF? We're already phasing out Millsap. Favors and Jefferson are the future. Why waste a pick on another Millsap?

I think Irving is going to be a player.

Derrick Williams looked pretty good today. Except the lack of defense the commentators were pointing out. ...really productive on offense with non-existent defense. ...Another Boozer?
If he can play small forward he would be ok if he fell to the Jazz. Not my first choice even though many on here are of the opinion that he is the overall BP in the draft. Numbers wise maybe, but there are a couple guys I'd wanna take first. Still, it's not like he's gonna bust or anything. He's a good player.

Was his bad defense due to being lazy or is he a bad defender? I hear his name a lot and to get a talent like him would be nice. But we need to know if he can play the 3 and adequately guard other 3's.

Maybe we'll know more in workouts. Maybe some coaches tell their best players to be lax on d so they can stay in the game (Jimmer?). Williams is Arizona's best player so maybe he's avoiding defense, and thereby avoiding fouls.
