What's new

2011 draft.....

Kanter is worth a look. He's only 18 and 6'10". What if he's still growing?

Blake Griffin blew out a knee too. Look at him now. The younger the player, the greater chance of a full recovery.

If the Jazz are convinced they can get Ante Tomic over here to play C, they'll probably look at SF at #6. Jan Vesely or Perry Jones.

Huge difference between a freak accident with a knee cap and an ACL.

The long history of stiff bigmen with bad wheels is almost unbearable. Pass on tissues I mean euros I mean Kanter.

Americans win championships. Euros win competitions that don't matter. The most ring rich euro couldn't even get out of the first round with Kobe bailing his *** out. And even then, Gasol is their 4th most important player. Kobe, Bynum, Odom, and Gasol. Without Bynum, an American, the Lakers would struggle to even get out of the 2nd round.

Who do you people like between Derrick Williams and Harrison Barnes?

I think Barnes will be a better pro because he is a natural SF. He can shoot, defend and play on the perimeter from day one. Derrick Williams is a little too small to play PF full-time as a starter. So he will have to become a better perimeter player.

Great question YB85 I have asked the same question to myself. I lean towards barnes just because he is a natural 3 but Williams is just what you need coming off the bench an energy that can play multiple positions. Barnes is better suited to start. That is the reason I lean a little towards barnes.

I see a lot more of Fess than Hibbert.

A soft stiff euro who can't even dominate fellow euros.

Fess doesn't have a post up game to speak of.

Ante Tomic has a Roy Hibbert-like post up game that at times also resembles Pau Gasol.

Tomic just has to get stronger like Hibbert and Gasol did.

Euro stats mean nothing. Lots of good NBA players have averaged single digits in the Euro league.

My gut tells me Barnes. Somewhere I heard Williams has a hard time being productive against taller players. And since the Jazz are stacked up front he'd have to learn to play the 3. His high% numbers even from outside are nice though. But yeah, I feel a little less confident in him than Barnes.

Tomic will most likely never play in the NBA. We can't count on him. Even if he does, chances are he will be more Fesenko than Gasol. Gasol, Nowitzki, those are once in a generation type Euro players.

My gut tells me Barnes too. I wish he'd penetrate a bit more but my gut tells me he'll be the best pro out of this class. He reminds me of a longer Wade minus Wade's tenacity.

That said, assuming we don't get lucky in the lottery, I don't think we should settle for what's their at say 6 and 12. We need to package the two picks [and more if needed (Miles?) to move up to 3 or 4 (or higher of possible) and get Irving, Williams or Barnes.

Speaking of Tomic, ESPN.com is showing Real Madrid play right now in the Euroleague playoffs.

If he is somewhere in between, he could greatly help!

I hope the Jazz can pick up a early second round pick and draft David Lighty. He has a chance to be Matthews/Afflalo-type shooting guard that we need.

I'll vomit if we take Jimmer over Kemba Walker.

Walker + Hayward could be a very good backcourt. If you add Barnes or Williams.... POW. (Also, let's keep our fingers crossed for a franchise tag)

Walker
Hayward
Barnes or Williams
Millsap

Finally got the ESPN draft lotto to give the Jazz the first 2 picks.

Not sure how to screen save, though.
