What's new

2011 draft.....

Faried and Biyombo are freakin' awesome. I'd love it if the Jazz could trade Al or Millsap for a wing, then execute a trade that included their 12th pick for two mid-1st picks and then take both of these guys to replace Al/Millsap and Fes.

Highlights of him below.

What position is he? He appears to be a PF to me, and about 6'8". But damn, he plays big. He looks like he has great hands and can palm the ball easily and thus go up, his arm extended very high, sort of like Duncan or Gasol, as he dunks.

Just saw another vid of Bismack:

With that athleticism and motor at his young age, if he's interested in improving, he could be special. Sap and Al are only under contract two more seasons, so he could be the heir apparent.

Saer Sene looked like a freak during the Hoops Summit week as well a few years back and I was buying the hype so I'm a little hesitant to get on the Biyombo bandwagon, but there certainly could be worse gambles. I wouldn't be mad if the Jazz rolled the dice. Definitely going to be watching that game tomorrow now to get a better look, as I hadn't heard of the guy until about 5 minutes ago.

Crazy music. The only thing I don't like is the long angle shots make it hard to gauge his jumping ability. I'll be curious to see how he does in those combine drills. Either way, just imagine if he grew another inch or two. Holy cow.

I dont know i was not that impressed with him during the NCAA tournament. Certainly a good rebounder but not a whole lot of skill on offense. We already have a better version of him in Millsap. Definitely not a top 12 pick.

I think this year's draft that'll be impossible to predict - moreso than others. I think there will be a lot of trades (picks/vets). In prior years, the top five or six picks were usually set in stone for the most part - I think there will be lots of unexpected picks this year. And I think some of the players in the draft will pan out to be better than expected.

Right now only one top10 guy has pulled out so certainly we could end up with two quality guys. i think pick one guy who can help right away and one with a ton of upside.

If Derrrick Williams is the first pick and Rubio comes over would you trade our 6 and 12 picks to Minnesota for the second pick? Is Irving worth the 6 and 12?

Yes. I'd trade 6 + 12 for either Williams or Irving without hesitating.

They already have a lottery pick in each position (Darko, Love, Beasley, Johnson, Flynn/Rubio) so I am not sure if they are intereted in one additional pick... Well but that's David Kahn we are talking about.

I can understand Biyombo, so no argument there. But why would we replace Millsap with Faried? Millsap had even better production that Faried in college and he has better size. Also, we don't know that Faried will be able to develop an outside shot like Millsap has. I would be very angry if we tried to replace Millsap with Faried.

Absolutely. IMO, Irving is going to be close to the same level as Chris Paul. I'd give up a hell of a lot more than our 6 and 12 picks to get Irving.

Yes, we could then move Devin immediately in a package for wing help. Watson is a good enough backup.

Hollinger is apparently watching the Hoop Summit. This is his take on the Bismack kid:

Watching the internationals practice the past two days, the biggest name is Congolese power forward Bismack Biyombo, who may end up in this year's draft. He's an athletic shot-blocker and finisher with an NBA body but a raw game, especially offensively; he can help you win a game as a bench energy guy today, but I don't think he'll ever be a star. He's also listed as being 19 years old, which I'm taking with an entire pillar of salt.

Age questions, ceiling questions. For what that's worth.

Hears an idea.... Why use the 12th pick to get a scrub why not see if the Clippers will give us Jordan for the 12th pick and the rights to Tomic. I don't know if they'd do it but it's worth a shot.
