2011 draft.....

My Draft Board top 10 for the Jazz right now:

1) Derrick Williams
2) Kyrie Irving
3) Harrison Barnes
4) Brandon Knight
5) Bismack Biyombo
6) Enes Kanter/Jonas Vallanciunas
7) Jonas Vallanciunas/Enes Kanter
8) Jan Vesely
9) Terrence Jones
10) Donas Montiejunas

I think this is actually a pretty decent draft at least through the top 10.

No Kemba?

I'm going to go through every single European/Serbian player drafted over the past decade in the first round. Let's see how many of them were "utter trash".
Players bolded=all stars
Players Italicized=solid role players
Players with nothing = garbage

2001
Pau Gasol
Vladimir Radmanovic
Raul Lopez
Tony Parker

Pau Gasol and Tony Parker are all-star players. We all know the story of Raul Lopez. Radmanovic is debatable, he's been a serviceable player, not an star, but definitely not utter trash, so I'll add him with italics. That makes us 3/4 with positives so far.

2002

Nikoloz Tskitishvili-garbage
Bostjan Nachbar- considering he's no longer in the NBA, I'll call him garbage as well
Jiri Welsch - Ugh....this draft really sucked
Nenad Krstic- finally, at least one solid-ish player.

That makes us 4/8 so far.

2003

Darko Milicic - He did have a pretty decent year this year, but considering where he was drafted....I'll add him as garbage, but it's debatable.
Mickael Pietrus - Solid player
Zarko Cabarkapa - Garbage, though technically he did have injury problems but I'll give it to you
Sasha Pavlovic - Well....he's still in the NBA....but he sucks. I'll add him in as garbage
Boris Diaw - Solid player
Zoran Planinic - Sucked
Carlos Delfino - Solid-ish player. Wouldn't say he's garbage.

7/15 so far

2004

Andris Biedrins- He's a pretty solid player
Pavel Podkolzine- I can only just laugh at this
Victor Krhyapa- Lulz
Sergei Monia - The last 3 were all drafted in a row. Terrible
Sasha Vujavic - Solid, but he has really bad hair. I really hate him.
Beno Udrih- Solid player

10/21 so far

2005

Frank Vazquez - Has yet to make it over to the NBA
Yaroslav Korolev- Giggle, Man I used to love watching the Clippers draft
Johan Petro - sucks
Ian Mahinmi - Also sucks....stupid French

10/25 so far

2006

Andrea Bargnani - Granted not very good for a 1st overall, but this draft year sucked. And he's still a solid solid player
Thabo Sefolosha - Not garbage, he's an average player in the NBA.
Oleksiy Pecherov - Oh the Wizards....
Sergio Rodriguez - Eh, average. Wouldn't say he's garbage for a late 1st round pick.
Joel Freeland - I don't even know who that is. He's still never made it over apparently.

13/30

2007

Marco Belinelli- Good role player
Rudy Fernandez - I'd still like to get him over here
Tiago Splitter - Has shown flashes, had injury problems and it's his first year over here. I'm not really sure how to classify him. I'll keep him under garbage for the time being.

15/33 so far

2008

Danilo Galinnari -Don't act like you wouldn't take him on your team
Alexis Ajinca - Ech
Serge Ibaka - Solid
Nicolas Batum - Wouldn't mind having him either

18/37 so far

2009

Ricky Rubio - He hasn't come over yet, but he will contribute when he does. I'm going to mark him as a role player at least.
Victor Claver- Also hasn't come over yet, but I was never a big fan of his.
Omri Casspi- Apparently a bunch of people here like him but I know nothing about him, so I'll trust them.
Rodrique Beasbause - **** I can't spell that name and I'm tired. He's gonna be good.

21/41 so far, one year left

2010

Kevin Seraphin - LOL, I think the only foreigner drafted in first round last year, correct me if I'm wrong

So that makes it 21/42. Exactly 50%. Obviously some of these can be debated and feel free to disagree with me. My point is that some of the Euro's suck. Some of them don't. But overall, that average is probably better than what we get out of the first round for American players. Whether they're good or not has nothing to do with the fact that they're from Europe, it has to deal with the fact that GM's draft players on the basis of athleticism and potential instead of whether they can actually play the game.

Almost evey player you named is a role player at best. Thislist is trash and i fell sorry for you that you felt you put together a 50/50 list.

You said the majority of them were "utter trash". Would you still say that is the truth? Because I don't know where they taught you math, but 50% is not a majority.......

I wouldn't get bent if we ended up with Vesely at 12. I mean, if that guy ever learns to shoot off of the dribble, then he would be pretty insane. I heard one scout report that his spot up shot is coming along pretty well, and that his mechanics are good.

Been thinking, could Smack become this years Larry Sanders? A athletic shot blocking big men that has no real offensive game besides dunking? I love Smack but is his ceiling more like a Sanders/Ratliff type or Ibaka/Favors type?

Vesely might be ok....

He's long and can dunk well.

But I'd much rather surround Big Al, Millsap, and Favors with shooters rather than these AK types.

And size doesn't always guarantee success. In fact, Artest is a bad fit for the Lakers. Despite adding size and strength, the Lakers were more lethal when they had Ariza bombing away from 3. Just look @ the raptors. They once had that big Italian dude playing SF too. Didn't work out too well...

We have plenty of size now. Lets draft some shooters please.

This draft has me depressed - I was more excited with last year's draft. But I do have trust in KOC - he's drafted well as a whole. Hopefully he can get us some value, whether through the draft or VIA trades...

If Vesley is an AK player, then wouldnt he be a no brainer at 12? I mean, from what I've read, he has a real passion for the game. I think AK use too to, but he got burnt out by Sloan and playing so much all year round.

Thats the problem thriller, not a lot of shooters. Only real shooters are Barnes, Hamilton and Honeycutt but no one seems to like the last two and Barnes will probably stay at NC. Also Jimmer (sigh) but I dont consider him a stand still shooter

I remember half of this board thinking Hayward was a bad shooter. One poster even though he was worse than Brewer......

If Vesley is there at #12 it is a no brainer to take him, but with the #5-#6 I would say no. Vesley has continually been put in in the top five for a lot of mock drafts so yea if he is available at #12 I think you would have to take him.

Smack has moved up to #7 in Draft Express's Mock Draft and in ESPN's Lottery Mock Draft Simulator the default picks have him at #7. I am definitely on board with taking Smack with the #5 pick, unless we can get Irving or Williams I want Biyombo.

Regarding the #12 pick, I really have nobody who I really want yet. The obvious pick would be Jimmer, but I say no no no. Someone like Kawhi Leonard or Alec Burks would be great choices for the Jazz at #12. Actually now that I think about it my preferences assuming the Jazz don't move up are Bismack Biyombo at #5 and Kawhi Leonard/Alec Burks at #12.

50/50 is what you say, bro. That list is trash. You do not pick 5 percent of those players in the top 15, much less top 5. So really, what is your point? My point is that euro player rarely turn into anything more than role players. I would take brandon knight over any of these euros. He has starpotential, and that is what we need, not some project euro.

Brandon Knight is a project also.

I could see Vesley slipping along with a couple of other Euros, it depends on how teams feel about drafting from Europe.
