What's new

2011 draft.....

Sooooo..explain to me how you have obatined the secrets to being all knowing? What have you seen besides some youtube video and a few box scores? Maybe this is hard for your superiority complexed *** to comprehend, intnl player grown or not do not always equal superior players even on an ncaa scale. Ya dig? Or have you just not watched one ncaa game out of the ncaa tourney this year to not be able to make a qualified statement on anyone so you just spout out all this **** about how great biyambo is? Funny how similar both sene and biyambo were so highly spoken of by writters. At the end of tis ypu and i will not see eye to eye on talent because you are extremely narow minded hype muncher. Eat it up bitch.

Actually I watched most of the NCAA tourney. Would you possibly like to direct me towards where I ever said that international players are superior to players on an NCAA scale?

I was just explaining how the difference between Sene and Biyambo are the fact that Sene couldn't even get playing time for a lower-level European team and Biyombo does get playing time in the top division in Europe. And he produces with his playing time. That's the difference between Sene and Biyambo. And I never said I was all-knowing, I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong, which I have done in this thread. Like earlier when I said that Nolan Smith was better than Brandon Knight. I took that back because clearly Knight is the better player with quite a bit more potential. I'm not looking to get mad at you or disrespect you, I'm just offering a differing opinion. That happens quite a bit in life, not everybody is going to agree with you.

But , come one who really cares if he watched malone? There are big time talents that have proven themselves against the best in the ncaa. We also do not need to stunt favors by drafting another pf! I want knight or we should package 6, 12 and anyone otjer than favors or hayward for the chance to draft irving.

Uh the Malone comment was tongue in cheek. It doesn't matter. I will admit that sene and biyombo are very similar. People said the same things about ibaka and look how he turned out. I think biyombo is much more similar to ibaka. It all comes down to work ethic. If a player, ala millsap, comes in and works hard they can be good. If the come in and work hard and have talent they are very good. Sene didn't work hard and he was always skinny. Biyombo from what I have read has a good work ethic and he is a leader. (also the reason I want fredette)

Now I have said this before I am worried how he fits with favors. This draft is so week I am looking for a player that has the highest ceiling and I think that is biyombo.

Barnes staying has turned this draft from potentially okay to officially garbage. If the Jazz want a top-shelf wing, they're going to have to be even worse in the coming year (if there is one).

I say we draft Sullinger, and if he's not available we should take Barnes... if he's gone how about we take that Jones kid.
If none of those are available we should take either Zeller or Henson from NC, they are both decent big men.
This is a really deep draft, so someone should be available that will make a difference.
I love it when plans work out perfectly.

I tend to like your POV on the draft as a whole. If we hypothetically didn't get a top pick and the chance to take Irving or Williams, who is 3-8 on your board?

Can Jazz fans be patient for one more year? As much as we ended the year on a high note (not really because we barely beat the Nuggets reserves) I think next year we could get another top 5 pick. Depending on what happens with the new CBA and what they decide on age requirements to enter the draft (there's been talk of extending it to two years after high school to allowing HS seniors to declare) next years draft could be loaded. This years draft looks like if you don't get a top 2 pick then there's no guarantees, whereas next year it could have the potential of being 12-15 players deep and we'll most likely get two of those. Who knows what's going to happen but the Jazz could potentially get 5-6 top 10 picks in 3 years which is something I never thought I'd see the Jazz do.

My hope is that Knight stays in range of the Jazz's pick, which will require bigs like Jonas, Biyombo and Kanter to pull the usual upward trend for bigs near the draft. I feel like Knight has the best potential to amount to something outside of the the top two, best case Eric Gordon type if he can put on some weight and start finishing at the rim. It's sad that this draft doesn't even seem three players deep now.

Pretty good article on Biyombo. Not sure if it's been posted yet.

Great read! Thanks! I'd absolutely love to see this guy end up on the Jazz. Physically he's a freak. Couple that with insane competitiveness and you've got a once in a lifetime package. On top of that he's intelligent and clearly loves the game. I've seen some people suggest we should draft him if he's there at 12. If this guy lasts that long it would go down as one of the biggest steals in NBA draft history.

Knight's a scorer in a PG's body. Gordon's a 2, sort of a combo but he has the frame of a SG while Knight - even if he adds some weight - just doesn't have Gordon's frame so don't think they're really comparable. In alot of ways, I think Knight's NBA-comparison is Devin Harris w/range.

With Barnes out there is absolutely no prospect I'm in love with. Terrance Jones is very intriuging - don't like him at 6, would love him at 12 (he'll probably go somewhere between those picks). Assuming we end up at 6 and 12, I would definitely do my best to explore trading one of those picks - likely for a [edited] 2012 1st (likely w/some protection). Might be getting $.75 on the dollar, but I still think it would be worth it.

i am assuming you meant a 2012 first. Will 2012 potentially being very strong it will be hard to do such a thing anyway. Barnes unless we moved up was not going to be there anyway. Granted now with 3 potentail top 5 guys out it will hurt our pick. I am definitely guessing we will draft one intl player and one PG. The question is who? For those who think KOC is horrible time to go on the record after we know who is in.

Dont think there is much chance he will be at 12 now. Probably have to take him with the 6th pick. If we are looking for a big guy who plays different than the guys we already have definitely have to look at Vesely. Better 3pt shooter than the rest of the big men (unless you include Mirotic).

Come on man. Dont you read ESPN all these guys pulled out. :) Unless the new CBA restricts Freshman from entering there are going to be some guys sorry they did not declare this year!

The Jazz should draft Kyrie Irving if they somehow get the number 1 pick in the draft. I like Harris as a point guard but i'm not sure he is the Jazz point guard of the future yet-- i think Irving would be the right pick Also, according to espn's Chad Ford, the Jazz are big on Jimmer Fredette. They think he can be a pretty good point guard in a few years at the NBA level! If Drafting Jimmer worked out, he would attract a lot of the BYU and college B-ball fanbase in utah, that don't watch the Jazz. just a thought! :)
