What's new

2011 draft.....

There is a lot of shooters on the FA market. The Jazz need defense more than shooting IMO.

Something to note on Kawhi- He is only 19, he already seems NBA ready but is full of potential. I'm sure he is working hard on his 3 point shot b/c he shoots the mid range well. I like Kawhi a lot for the 12th pick

I like him, but his size questions me.

After the Gordon Hayward pick that at the time thought it was a left field pick, and never saw it coming. I've decided to not complain about who KOC picks. Even if it's Jimmer.

Uhhhhhh....

I guess you forgot KOC drafting Kosta, Mo Almond, Brewer, Kirk Snyder, Borch, Raul Lopez, and Kris Humphries.

KOC drafting in the first round still leaves me incredibly nervous.

But that's okay, we live in a "What have you done for me lately world."

Kosta Koufos was projected to go in the lottery and fell to the Jazz at #23, at the time it was a no brainer pick because Kosta was the BPA. Kris Humphries is averaging a 10 and 10 double-double not to mention a block a game to go with it, so I am not exactly calling that one a bad pick. All the other ones were horrible though, but you have to remember with all the bad picks there are a couple good ones too. Williams, Millsap, and Hayward there might be some others too, just I am not sure if it was in fact KOC who drafted them.

It needs to be noted that Koufas also refused to work out for the Jazz, probably because he wasn't expecting to fall that low. So KOC was going on some blind faith on that pick, and I doubt he makes the same mistake of picking a player he didn't see in workouts. It does pain me to look at that draft board, Serge Ibaka was drafted next, followed by Nic Batum, and then George Hill. ****

Can someone convince me why Terence Jones is going to be something in the NBA other than guys like Jordan Hill, Mo Evans, Malik Allen, Steven Graham, Brandan Wright, Joey Dorsey? You know, the guys with mediocre to above average athletic ability, below average to mediocre mental makeup to succeed in the NBA, and the shooting touch of a billy goat, and the type of guys that play 32 minutes on a perpetual losing team and 10 spot minutes for a contending team and are completely replaceable.

Terrence Jones is a more complete and versatile player than the players you mentioned (although I barely know a few of them). T. Jones was projected at the top of the lottery and even in discussion as a potential #1 pick candidate coming into college.

But, he has not really missed in the lottery if we are convinced Hayward is a real deal.

Kosta, Mo Almond, and Lopez were later picks, which we know can be a crapshoot Brewer wasn't a bad pick, and Humphries was a beast on the boards and good player this year. Every gm has a Borch or a Mo or Snyder on their resume's. I no some don't feel this way but I feel lucky to have KOC as gm of the Jazz, and feel he is one of the best. For all I know I won't like who he drafts, but we have to realize is he has put in thousands of ours in knowing and studying the different prospects.

I think O'Conner takes a lot of unnecessary flack, but not a lot of GMs have the distinguishment of drafting both a player that hadn't done anything of note until he poked a famous hottie (somehow) and a violent psychopath DIRECTLY above two borderline all-stars IN THE SAME DRAFT. Whether you liked the picks at the time or not, you can not spin that as anything but a catastrophic blooper.

I was just scanning the nbadraft.net forum and someone actually suggested that the Jazz trade Favors for the 10th pick in this years draft and a couple second rounders.

I would seriously burn my fan card if KOC did something that moronic.

Yeah, that was bad, but IMO that's just the nature of the draft. Sometimes it goes catastrophic, especially when you're picking in the middle. FWIW, I remember not being thrilled by Humphries but thought Snyder was a great pick. Shows what I know.

I really hope the Jazz draft The Jimmer @ 12.... or better yet, @ 6.
Not so much because it will make the team better, but I want to see the implosions and explosions.
Anyone have an over/under on the number of infractions or bans here if this were to take place?

That's kind of sexy, if you think about it.
It's already been added to the rotation I'm sure.

Also earlier somebody said the Brewer pick was a bust but I would beg to differ, he may not be on the Jazz but he was not a bust and I would even listen to arguments for Stevenson not being a bust as well. You can be upset that KOC traded them but that does not equal draft bust.

Let's start right now with 12
