What's new

2011 draft.....

He would be a three but has a greater wingpspan and standing reach than Al Horford. His no step vert is 14th all-time on the draft measurements list just a half inch below Vince Carter and his max vert reach of 12'3" is tied for 5th all-time with the likes of Dwight Howard. Long 3 who's athletic and can shoot the 3 with great form and lightning quickness. Sign me up.

And I like the fact that he was dismissed from OSU. He's probably not a bitch. According to one site, "NBA Comparisons: Stephen Jackson."

Let the Jimmer- how athletic is he debate renew!

"I think it will be his athleticism, and they will be very surprised with his quickness and his speed," said Taft two days before he left to participate in athletic training clinics in Helsinki, Iceland, Chicago, Las Vegas and Kansas City.

Taft predicts when Fredette does the three-quarter-court sprint, he will post one of the fastest times, just like he did a year ago at a New York Knicks workout where his time ranked in the top three among prospects.

That was after a season of illness and a bout of mononucleosis. This year he's increased his measurables by an average of 3 percent, said Taft.

"The agility drills they do, he will be very efficient with it.

"People say that he's not fast or quick or athletic. No, he is very athletic. He is very quick. He is extremely gifted in the way he moves. He doesn't have a lot of hesitation in his move and they will be very impressed with his quickness."

Taft should know. Professionally, he is known as The Speed Man. It is his specialty. He runs the Lee Taft Speed Academy in New Castle (sportsspeedetc.com).

Another area Taft believes Fredette will impress in is his strength. Combine invitees will be tested on how many reps players can press 185 pounds.

"Jimmer did that 13 times without even practicing, and that's as good as most guards will do," said Taft.

If Jimmer shows some good athletic ability and some ability to defend PG's in workouts that would answer my worries about him in the NBA.

Athletic ability doesn't translate to good defense. For instance, that Gary Flowers guy Krazy Eyed posted, is supremely athletic, but is a terrible defender.

As a Ute fan, I'm pulling for Jimmer. I honestly think he could become a slightly slower version of Mark Price if he tunes in and works hard. I just don't know how big an impact that kind of player would have in today's league. Most successful PGs today can score in the lane, beat guys off the dribble and break down defenses. This is what I worry about with Jimmer.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Jazz were looking at a player like Reggie Jackson or Josh Selby as darkhorse picks at 12.

Cowherd on the radio the other day asked Pippen who the most under-rated player was he played against was? He said, "Mark Price." Cowherd asked him about a whole list of players, including Stockton, and Pippen kept going back to Price. I'm sorry. Jimmer is nowhere as good as Mark Price was. Price was a two time all-american, four time allstar, hit the 90/50/40 club. Jimmer is no Price.

So, Jimmer was so athletic last year, that NO TEAM would guarantee that they would pick him in the first round? Then he went and did nothing to improve that perception (for example, by playing outstanding defense) and now he is a lottery pick? Hmmm...Was this article written by Dick Harmon? You do know the DesNews printed an article a week or two ago saying BYU's safety with practically no experience is better than Rich, BYU has their best linebackers ever (even better than when they had Kehl and Poppinga and another kid that played in the NFL), and that their QB that was awful last year (his stats make Wynn look like an All-American) and did nothing against any quality competition will be a Heisman runner up and suddenly dominate top flight schools and their OC is the best in the nation, even though he has never called a game in his career.

I'm just saying the DesNews may over-rate BYU related players from time to time.

Quite a bold statement re player who's never played a single professional game yet.

Leonards game actually reminds me more of Luol Deng. That's who I see when I watch him play.

That is what I see. Their athleticism is similar, defense ability, ability on the boards, height and length too and the mid range game as well as aggressiveness. If hr became anything close to Deng I would take him with the 6th pick. Deng is valuable in so many ways, especially defense

I don't think anyone is saying Jimmer IS mark price just that their games are similar. I think jimmers ability IF he applies himself Could have a career like price. That is his upside. But chances are he will be something less.

Exactly my point. Mark Price was a great player. Jimmer hasn't played a single game yet. Before we compare him to Mark Price, maybe we should hope for something a little more realistic. Eddie House maybe? JJ Reddick possibly? Not Mark Price.

Oh, ok. Sounds good. :D

Give me Singleton or go to Hell. But seriously, Kawhi doesnt merit a 6th pick and he wont be there at 12; even if he was, Id still strongly consider Singleton seeing as he shoots better/plays better defense.
