What's new

2011 draft.....

I actually don't think Montalekrjekrnelrkejre is going to be a bust....

I'm just not sure if he's ever really going to be that good... Wang Zuzu anyone? Maybe Matt Bonner?

Perhaps the best case scenario would be Memo?

I would say his best case is Pau Gasol with more range. He is that skilled. It's just a question of his toughness (just like Gasol).

A more athletic version of Memo would not be such a bad pick at 12 if we go with Knight at 3.

I've always been a big fan of Donatas and think he could really help space the floor for Big Al,Millsap and Favors. I compared him awhile back to a more athletic Memo with a decent handle. The concern I have with him is character and defense. The other concern was weight but it looks like he gained quite a bit of muscle already. Kind of funny the 2 guys I've defended in Jordan Hamilton and Donatas both have character issues and defensive issues

Unfortunately, I am listening to 1280 right now, and their guest thinks if Kemba is there at 8, Detroit will jump on him. That would probably drop Bismack to 12 for all you B lovers.

Bismack By The Numbers: A Comparison To The Top NCAA Bigs In The Draft
by Mac_Diego on Jun 9, 2011 7:34 PM MDT

Okay, same idea here as the Derrick Favors spreadsheet (here, in case you missed it), but this is one is definitely less intense.

Each comparison is broken down into a per-minute number and then a ratio is calculated. If Biyombo's per-minute number is as good as the comparison player, the number is ≥ 1 and the box is green. If not, the box is red.

I found stats from 3 different teams for Biyombo: CB Illescas Urban CLM, Illescas, and Fuenlabrada. I don't know enough about Spanish basketball to know the difference between the first two teams (or even if they are different teams), but I do know that Fuenlabrada is the top level of the Spanish League, and like it's been said, they would dominate any team in the NCAA (so look at these numbers with that in mind––especially Kenneth Faried's).

The top table is all of Biyombo's game stats that I could find, so you can look through them and see his progression throughout his career.

Looking at these numbers with the level of competition in mind, it's probably safe to conclude that Biyombo would have been a shot-blocking nightmare in the NCAA. He also would have likely been one of top rebounders in the country.

Here is the table: RIGHT HERE!!!

Happy discussing.

I wasn't able to attach the comparison so you'll have to go to the webpage to see it but it freaked me out that Biyombo was inferior in every category (except blocks) to Faried.

I think Bismack is a little over-rated on this board. Defense is valuable, but if you can't play offense, you can't play.

Ben Wallace? Dwight Howard his first few years? Brian Cardinal in the Finals? Joel Anthony? Jarron Collins? These guys all play(ed). If you watched the most video of his workout, even though he was missing jumpers his form wasn't terrible. He could begin to make similar shots.

He also has one very valuable offensive skill: When he gets the ball around the rim he is going to dunk it every single time. He will be able to finish. Guys like Joel Anthony, Jarron Collins, etc. didn't have that skill. Biyombo does.

At this point my favorite scenario is this Jazz trade #3 to Sacramento for #7 and #35 so that they can draft Knight (who they love). The Jazz take Biyombo at 7 and Jimmer at 12. Then we all know the Jazz can find good players in the 2nd round for #35. Preferably a 2. If not then trade one of either Millsap or Jefferson for a legit 2.

I am beginning to think that Jimmer can become a rich man's JJ Barea (taller, better shooter) off the bench for the Jazz. We all saw in the finals how valuable that is. I for one am not totally ready to give up on Devin Harris.

Devin Harris/ The Jimmer/ Watson (?)
CJ/#35/traded player?
Hayward/#35?/Traded player?
Millsap?/Favors/Biyombo
Jefferson?/Favors/Buyombo

Holy cow, I just realized this thread is going to break the 5000 post barrier before the draft. Wow.

Joel Anthony is only good if you have three other All-Stars. We don't. Ben Wallace was fantastic, but he was playing with three or four top five picks. We don't have that either. Jarron Collins? I won't even respond to that. To trade down for Bismack is an awful move. We have too many holes on this team. We need that #3 pick to be a much, much, much better player than Bismack will ever be. If he is available at 12, that is another story.

We are not Detroit people. That Detroit team was stacked, and that's why they won so much. It was not a team of second rounders. It was a team of top picks in the draft. We don't need a Wallace right now. We need a Billups, Hamilton, Rasheed, etc.

As has been documented he apparently lifted weights right before the session. He actually conducted another workout on Monday and did much better.

It was a joke to the people who ripped Bismack's video. Although, even after lifting weights the airballs were just plain bad.

Rodman on line one....

Eaton on line two, and big Ben Wallace got a busy signal.

Ok, when we get Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen call me with Rodman's #.

When we get mulitple top 5 picks and All-Stars (Rasheed, Billups, Hamilton) give me a call.

Eaton was great, but we ain't winning championships with Eaton. Like I said earlier, we need an All-Star at 3. At 12, we can definitely get an Eaton.

My point is, we need great players, not role players. So we can't give that #3 up. We need it too badly.
