2011 Fiba EuroBasket - Turkey

Loved Padgett at UK, he was a badass warrior night in and night out ... but never thought he'd find himself playing in the NBA.

Assuming you're referring to Jeff Shepherd. Obviously loved Jeff too. He played on two Nat'l Champ teams and was F4 MVP for the '98 title run. Overachiever and always taking, and hitting, the big shots. Yep.

"North Carolina had four players say no (Harrison Barnes, Reggie Bullock P.J. Hairston and James Michael McAdoo), as did Kentucky (Anthony Davis, Mike Kidd-Gilchrist, Terrence Jones and Marquis Teague). Duke had three (Quinn Cook, Austin Rivers and Josh Hairston). Big men with NBA futures such as Ohio State's Jared Sullinger, UCLA's Josh Smith, Memphis' Adonis Thomas and high-schooler Andre Drummond also passed."

This doesn't necessarily answer why, just that they decided to pass. I would personally guess because it wouldn't help their draft stock in any way really. They're already very highly touted and it's their college season that will determine if their draft stock rises or falls. Could this push someone up five to ten spots? Sure. But if their subsequent college season is mediocre, this tournament means nothing.

Country pride? It's sad when we get beat by Russia. We should be dominating every tournament every year.

Hellz yes bro!!! Jeff was my boy. Always loved him. Sam Jacobson on Minnesota around that time sort of reminded me of him too.

Jonas V. mvp of U-19 tournament. Interestingly enough Turkey and Lithuania are in the same group in Eurobasket. Interesting to see if they go head to head. Only have to wait until Sept. 2nd.

That is going to be really great to see what happens with those two. The potential match up that I am most excited about is Kanter vs Noah. If Kanter can have a good showing against him that would say so much more. Noah is a top 10 center in the NBA right now. I just hope that Kanter shows up to play and make the Jazz feel justified for drafting him. If he does have a strong showing then it might open much more playing time for Kanter when the NBA season does start.

if you mean about the euro tourney, Enes will play vs much tougher opponents like Gasol bros, Gortat and Valanciunas in the group stage. Its not sure yet if Turkey will play against France
