2013 Chicago Combine May 15-19

9% isn't that bad. I'm positive it's an improvement from his last game at college. This combine is the earliest ever if I'm not mistaken, not a lot of time for prospects to work on their athletic testing game.

Compared to some of the other SGs he is fat. Heck Kanter's rookie year I think he was about 6.9 and people were calling him fat.

Chad Ford @chadfordinsider Kelly Olynyk. 24.5" standing vert. 29.5" max vert. 3.59 sec sprint. 11.42 lane agility.

Chad Fords Draft/Lottery game has had the Jazz drafting Olynk for the past two weeks. With short arms, poor agility and slight jumping ability Olynyk could be a Jazz man.....@21 but no way at 14.

I know it is just the combine but Iverson was pushing Olynk around down low. I have never been a big Olynk fan and I don't want the Jazz to draft him.

I take the athletic testing with a grain of salt. Probable the one stat I look at is lateral quickness. The measurements are impressive but again they are simply a piece of the puzzle. I watch how guys hustle, if they are in shape and how they match up with guys. Again my decision would be more about how they have produced on the court.

Cody Zeller absolutely beasting these athletic drills. 35" standing and 37.5" max vertical if I saw correctly.

edit: corrected max

Chad Ford @chadfordinsider Dennis Schroeder. 30" standing vert. 34" max vert. #NBACombine

Chad Ford @chadfordinsider CJ McCollum. 32" standing vert. 38.5" max vert. #NBACombine

So the obvious conclusion is that a tooth ache impacts jumping ability much more than recovering from a broken foot.

also....

Chad Ford @chadfordinsider Myck Kabongo. 27.5" standing vert. 33.5" max vert. #NBACombine

Chad Ford @chadfordinsider Shane Larkin. 34.5" standing vert. 44" max vert. Second biggest max vert we've had at combine ever. Kenny Gregory 45.5" in 2001

Chad Ford @chadfordinsider Isaiah Canaan: 33" standing vert. 40.5" max vert. GREAT numbers and day for Isaiah. #NBACombine

lol

This just further solidifies my wanting McCollum slightly ahead of Schroder.

Leaping is one of the lesser important traits for a player regardless of position but especially for players that are supposed to make their living getting other guys shots.

Scott Howard-Cooper @SHowardCooper Latest draft hit for Shabazz Muhammad: Several execs say they would not be surprised if he falls out of the lottery.

holy hell or a smoke screen?[/QUOTE]

Could be just that other players are more exciting at the moment. I've always thought he was a Joe Johnson type, which is good and has a few drawbacks too. But he'll definitely score the ball and probably get to the line.

I think this is more about players like Adams, Gobert, Olynyk and Schroeder impressing people.

It's rare that a player gets to put their full vertical to use in a game. Derrick Williams had decent athletic numbers, but just because he can do athletic things doesn't mean that he does.

Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress
Allen Crabbe and Tim Hardaway Jr seem to be showing the highest skill-level in the shooting guard group. Caldwell-Pope struggling again.

I'll bet Tim Hardaway Jr. gets in the first round.
