What's new

2014 College Football

All of which are overrated SEC teams who played virtually nobody outside of their overrated conference. As I said elsewhere the way the SEC keeps the myth of their greatness is by never testing it unless it's the best team in the conference. When they lose bowl games their built in excuse is they did not want to be there. Or oh well it was a tough opponent. I'd have a lot more respect for SEC schools if they were so chicken **** about proving their the best. But they are. Look at the non-conference wins for the SEC and they absolutely hide behind their rep.

Yet multiple teams keep winning the title. Must suck for those of you that can see through the winning.

@PKM the SEC is absolutely over rated.

I believe they are the best conference, but they also get waaaaaay too much benefit of the doubt.

They are at a point where they never have to play anyone out of conference, which is tarded.

Again, I do think the SEC is the best conference, but not by nearly as big a margin as people think. Laugh if you want, but the fact that Missouri and Texas A&M came and competed right away is very very telling.

it shouldn't be a given that the best SEC team is THE best team in the nation, And that any 1 loss SeC team is the best 1 loss team etc etc. To me, it's just super lazy and a crutch that voters lean on instead of actually looking at individual team and conference opponents year to year.

This. Said basically what I eluded to in a much better format. They may be the best conference most years. But they seem determined to make sure they never have to put it to an actual test.

Again the one team at the top. And one of those titles came against another SEC team in an absolute farce. That game should never have been allowed, and may have been the downfall of the old system.
.
Not saying the winner of the SEC is not a great team. But they are not as far above other conferences as advertised and never play decent non-conference games on the road to prove they are the best. One thing I hope the playoff does is show how overrated they are. And expanded playoff would better show this though. I hope the committee see's around this and does not reward the SEC for playing scared. I don't think more than 1 SEC team should ever be included and I hope the committee see's it the same way.

With Utah's remaining schedule, I don't see any sense in arguing how they'd stack up with the other playoff teams. I LOVE this teams moxy and attitude, but it ain't happening. However, a 1 loss PAC 12 champ would be a shoe in for the playoffs. Keeping them out would be criminal.

Mark me down in the group of people completely sick of this jerkoff love fest going on for the SEC yet again. The amount of love 80% of the teams from that conference get is flat out embarrassing. It won't be changing anytime soon though. With ESPN's fingers all up in the SEC Network, it's only just begun.

Also, for those that are saying the SEC, as a whole, is too highly thought of.. I agree. It is always top heavy. However, so is every other conference. Difference with SEC is those top dogs when chips. And it's cyclical, it's not always the same one or two teams.

So, the summary is the following;

The SEC, as a conference gets too much benefit of the doubt.
The SEC, however, is the most dominant conference.

Actually recent bowl performances have suggested the SEC is extremely deep, not top heavy.

Like last year we had the most bowl wins, but went 0-2 in the BCS games.

MSU, for how bad it has been in the SEC before this year, have recently dominated whoever they faced in their bowl games, same with Ole Miss.

I think MSU and Ole Miss both have the most bowl wins in the SEC in the BCS Bowl Era becasue they get ranked lower due to the number of losses in a tough conference, then go out and dominate whoever they get matched up against.

NFL scouts are in on that damn sec lovefest too.
