2014 Draft Combine

Was always told it was deep and I believed you all but what I am reading on here (combine tweets, measurements and what not) is really strengthening that.

Based on my uninformed opinion of what I am reading my board is this:

1a. Wiggins
1b. Parker
3. Embiid
4. Smart
5. Exum
6. Randle

Fair or am I up in the night?

I'd say most have Exum over Smart.

It's close between Vonleh/Gordon/Randle.

Those seem to me like elite numbers for a guy 6'9". I wonder how it compare to other 6'9ish players in past drafts.

I decided to look.

CJ Leslie, Tony Mitchell, Elias Harris, Malcolm Thomas, Josh Owens, Jeff Green, Josh Powell, Solomon Jones, Ekene Ibekwe, Mike Bell (who?), JuJuan Johnson are 6'9+ guys within an inch up or down from Gordon. This is from the entire DX database, so i'd say that's very impressive.

it takes two to make a deal. I don't see anybody trading out of the top5 this year.

A top-5 for the 14, 18 and 27?
Not going to happen. Not even in a year that wasn't this good at the top.
I remember when KOC talked about trying to move from #9 into the top-5 (presumably to get Favors or Cousins). No one was willing to deal. This draft will be the same. I'd be surprised if any deals are made by teams to jump into the top-10. Now that doesn't mean no deals between teams in that range to move up a spot or two. For example, whoever gets the #1 spot might be willing to trade it for both of Philly's picks if they dropped to 3/4 and still had the #10.

I get all confused this time of year. All these guys start looking better and better. Pretty soon I am thinking, "Jazz should trade the whole roster for 6 draft picks." Or some other nonsense.

I'd trade #23 and Trey Burke to get into the top 10.

I wouldn't put that past Lindsey. Especially if the Jazz pick is Smart or Exum.

I was thinking that earlier today, if Detroit doesn't move up.....

Remember Trey was Ty's guy.

Jazz end up 5th and draft Smart.

Then they trade Trey, 23rd pick this year and a future 2nd rounder to Detroit for the 8th pick and draft Noah Vonleh?

Randle, at 6'9" 250, with a very impressive 35.5" vertical.

For some perspective, there were only about 5 guys in the entire DX database who were at least 6'9 250, with verticals as high or higher. Blake Griffin was 6'10" 248 with the same 35.5" vert. Randle, with his size and strength is an elite athlete.

I think the combine hurt exums stock a little..... but ya, most still have him ahead of smart.

The gap has shrunk between them after the combine though
