Any idea how many guys have ever scored 40 in three consecutive playoff games? That would be something else.

MJ did many times, but he only did once on the road. and 2 other that i know of is Bron in 09 and tmac in 03. on the road against magic.

but i really can't recall anybody else doing this on the road in 80's and 90's. i know for sure Hakeem never did this in his career.

in 60's jerry west had 40pts in all of his 6 games against baltimore. he avg like 47pts in that series. ridiculous

anyway jordan has the most 40pts in the playoffs with 38. that's more than 40pts by kobe, bron, kd, melo, wade, dirk combined

MJ's playoff dominance is just sick. occasionally you get players with great regular season stats against inferior teams, but when push comes to shove they don't play as well in the playoffs. just look at harden. and somewhat KD too. but MJ? he takes it to a whole new level in the playoffs.

And yet LeBron has the highest ppg average in playoff history. How is that possible if MJ had that many 40 point games? Not saying your stats are wrong, just trying to wrap my head around it.

that's a wrong info

MJ is at 33.45 avg. bron is tad over 28.
https://www.hoopsvibe.com/nba-gossi...ghest-playoff-scoring-averages-in-nba-history

and MJ's avg actually was near 36 ppg before the 2nd peat. he clearly slowed down in the 2nd peat where he 'only' avg around 32. and MJ was shooting .500% in the playoffs, but his 2nd peat lowered his avg down to .487%

imagine, if MJ never left after 1st peat. after he avg 40+pts in the finals. dude got sick of dominating. he actually left in his peak! what a decision. lol it's like Bron leaving to play football after this season. after his 3rd ring. can you imagine that? that's just crazy stuff if you really think about it.

yup. no doubt

anyway, something bothered me alot lately. I hear alot of 'kd will go down as the greatest scorer' i laugh at when today's media try to pimp KD and will be the 'greatest scorer'. KD sure has better range. MJ didn't shoot 3s much. KD already attempted more 3s than MJ's in his entire career by over 500 attempts! MJ really didn't believe in shooting 3s.

but i honestly don't give a crap about the range. shooting so many damn 3s are recipe for disaster in the playoffs. and KD is no MJ because his awkward body type is actually his biggest obstacle. MJ with perfect balance of size, length, strength, athleticism is what you need to be the greatest scorer. there is not a thing MJ couldn't do offensively. if he decides to do it, he would do it. the ultimate ISO master. KD had trouble against getting his feet set up against tony allen.

also my favorite MJ playoff stat

91 finals against lakers
31.2/6.6/11.4 asts/2.8stls/1.4blks .55fg%

great stuff.
