2014 NBA Playoffs: 2nd Round

Parker has averaged 23ppg, 6.5 apg and 2.5 rpg.

Lillard has averaged 20.5 ppg, 5.5 apg and 4rpg.

Didn't do their fg%s but they are both playing well according to the box score. This is as far as Lillard has been in the playoffs (1st trip as a matter of fact) and is a sophmore. I think he is doing just fine.

where's the stats for defense? [btw, thanks for admitting you were analyzing only the box score... allow me to say a few things]:

Lillard is doing fine. No doubt. But the fanboys are ignoring his defense, which is definitely not good.

Yeah but Lebron was weak in that series - averaged only 25, 11 and 7.

....Lebron starting to cry like a spoiled 2 year old on every play....and getting more calls than Jordan and Wade put together! He's definitely improved his 3 point shooting, though, that's for sure! But I'd put my money on the Spurs this go around! Home court, more brains and better supporting cast!

Defense has always been a knock on Lillard has it not? Of course Parker will exploit that. But Parker is hardly shutting down Lillard either. Lillard is fine, all I'm tryinmg to saying.

Above, I quote David Aldridge. He watches the games. So have I. The stats don't say how much Parker has controlled things. You can disagree if you want, but why would you when you're working solely off the box score?

Fair enough. But you will have to forgive me if I don't just jump on the agreement bandwagon due to the word of a journalist.

but you'll stick to a different opinion because you've seen a box score (which is nothing but another piece of journalism)?

You know, I remember the days when jazz fans knew how limited a box score was. We all knew John Stockton did so much more than what was captured. We all watched him instigate actions which led to a flaw in the defense, and then watched our system propagate that flaw... picking up easy buckets. If the NBA tracked "hockey assists", Stockton would be the all-time leader. Parker makes his whole machine GO. Lillard isn't having nearly the same impact, and he's mostly helpless when it comes to stopping Parker from doing exactly what he wants.

Before the last game, Portland had led for a total of 33 seconds over the entire series........ so, why should I care very much about Lillard's box score?

Lebron is very good at this as well. (Hockey assist)

let's call it like it is. lillard had 3 subpar game and 1 good game in this series. he will learn. dude is young. he just set the bar too high in that rockets series. he was just sick. and no matter what happens dude is on a verge of stardom, $100 million dollar adidas man.

but man, me love me some tony parker. forever the most underrated PG in my life time.

Gortat looks much better when he doesnt have to play against Favors. hes beasting the Pacers in the 1st half

Next year Enes and Derrick can be as effective as Nene and Gortat.

....to the contrary, box scores can tell you a lot! Low assist totals = low shooting percentages = low assist totals = more loses than wins! More turnovers than assists = unwatchable game!

gortat 31/16

im the type of sports watcher who dvr's everything and uses the fast forward button like crazy.
I dont watch free throws, huddles in football, players or coaches interviews, sideline reporters, etc etc.
I just get straight to the action.

With one exception.

KENNY, CHARLES, ERNIE, AND SHAQ are simply the best at what they do.
Sometimes i would rather watch thier pre game/post game/halftime shows than the actual games.

They are hilarious and have such great chemistry. (I used to hate shaq on there with the other guys but he has grown on me)

Just wanted to throw a shout out to them funny *** dudes

I could watch beal shoot jumpershots all day btw.

shaq was awful when he started, but he got better and settled down. and he just fits. charles is the glue and without him it won't work.

Holy ****.

That Thunder finish was about as crazy as it gets. Down 7 with 49 seconds left and they pulled it off? Just wow.

What is the point of replay. End of clips okc possession call was crazy.

Ya it should have been clipper ball.... of course barnes hit thabo on the wrist too.

The clips totally blew it but I think that call illustrates that you are never going to get rid of controversial calls. Replay just slows down the game, destroys momentum, and takes away some of the edge of your seat feeling at the end of a game.
