What's new

2015 Annual JazzFanz Current Players Draft

Who knows? Some people voting might really like the Kobe pick. I'm just giving my take on him. I think a few years ago everyone expected Kobe to come back and play at a high level. Cause that's what Kobe always did. He was and is a warrior. But year after year he's lost the battle with Father Time and he's only gotten older and has barely seen an NBA court in that time. Now, I don't think it's impossible for Kobe to come back and play some good basketball for part of the season (I don't think it's fair for anyone to expect him to play a full season after everything he's been through). But there's serious reason to believe that his career is essentially over. If he ends up making a come back against the odds, then that would be a really cool way for him to end his career.

Yeah and I don't expect him to come back 100% and go back to scoring 22+ points per game.

But I do expect him to come back and play some quality minutes at least as his Final Season in the NBA. He would have already declared retirement if he didn't think he would be coming back. What would be the point of rehabbing the shoulder if he 100% thinks that he's never going to play again?

But to say that "He's done" or "He won't play a single minute" is really unfair when you've given other players the chance to recover.

The fact that it was a new injury just points to the fact that his body is more susceptible to injury.

Or that he was made to carry a Lakers team full of absolute scrubs on that Lakers team that won't even compete in the D League.

Players break down when they're asked to do that.

Kobe is that competitive. He could probably lose a hand and still not throw in the towel. That doesn't mean he's going to be successful.

And again, Kobe's chances to recover are not the same as everyone else's.

Actually because Kobe is so competitive I think he has a better chance at recovery than most players.

Plus Kobe will carry less load on the Lakers this coming season making it easier on Kobe's comeback because:

- D'Angello Russell will be handling the ball more

- Julius Randle is playing

- Brandon Bass is added to the team

- Lou Williams is added to the team

- Roy Hibbert is added to the team

- Jordan Clarkson playing well last year

There is a tonne more help this year and it'll make it easier for Kobe.

So after I get off work this evening I'll be starting a 24 hour drive, if it does arrive at my pick it could take awhile to get to it, so please be patient fellas :)

Jokes aside, if I take a little bit longer to make my pick, I apologize. I'm at the hospital for a medical emergency now for my wife. After, I will be going to bed...so please just give me time. As soon as I see I'm up, I will pick. I have a big board.

Bruh, take your time. Hope everything is going ok. Praying.

They're different injuries.

He was averaging 22 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists last season before going down to a shoulder injury, nothing to do with his previous achilles. He's expected to return in September.

BTW Kobe is still only 36 compared to Manu who is already 38.

Quit acting like those numbers are impressive. He shot 37% with a 35% usage rate. That means he had the ball a lot. He better put up a whole bunch of numbers. Anyways, statistically he's been mediocre offensively and defensively the last couple years. He doesn't have it anymore.

There's a reason a player of Kobe's caliber fell as far as he did. If people genuinely thought that his body would hold up, then he would have been picked way higher. Who was it that said he didn't even include Kobe on his big board? Thee jazz fan maybe?
Yes me
