2016-17 Hype Train Playoff Chase!!!

Think the Jazz will be 6th. They lost both tiebreakers so I think it is what it is. Bring on Houston.

I think the Jazz will get to 50 or 51 games. OKC can only get to 49 wins if they win out. I don't think we can realistically slip to the 6th seed.

The question is whether we can stay a game ahead of the Clips.

FWIW, Espn says the Jazz have a 75.5% chance to claim the 4th seed, while the clips are currently at 23.9%.

Although the Clippers sit one-half game behind the Jazz, their chances of capturing the No. 4 seed -- and home-court advantage in the first round -- are still not even close to the Jazz's chances, according to BPI.

How important would home-court advantage be to the Jazz? As the No. 4 seed, Utah would hold a 54 percent edge in a series with the Clips, according to BPI. But if the Jazz fall to the No. 5 seed, they would indeed be underdogs, with only a 45 percent chance to advance to the second round for a potential matchup with the Warriors.

Lakers hopefully made a franchise altering error as they now sit at #3. If a team can move up in the lottery, they can drop out of the top three and their pick goes to PHI.

One can only hope.

I don't see GSW giving up a chance to see how they matchup against a possible second round opponent. Especially if they are getting Durrant back into the flow.

Double edged sword. By playing their starters, they are also teaching the Jazz how they match up with the Warriors. I don't see a net benefit to Warriors to playing their starters more than nominal minutes.

thank you lakers. you clinched it for warriors and ****ed your lottery standing

Right? HAHAHA They have won two in a row. What idiots, those two wins caused the Suns to pass them in the lottery standings.

Also the Mavs failed us and lost to the Clips, the Thunder beat the Grizzlies, Rockets beat the Nuggets which really damaged their race for 8th and the Spurs lost while the Warriors won.

Tonight's games:

Not much of interest except the T-wolves play in Portland. The T-Wolves play the Jazz tomorrow and are coming off a back to back.

Just hear don Locke's Podcast that if 1 team jumps the Lakers and they drop to 4th in the draft they lose their draft pick. HAHAHAHA!! YES!! Come on BB Gods! You owe us!

Who gets the pick if it's outside top three.

Philadelphia gets that pick.

Phoenix GM traded it for Brandon Knight, and Michael Carter-Williams was traded to the Bucks.

Might end up being the best trade that Sam Hinkie ever made. . . although fleecing the Kings is right up there as well. If Collangelo doesn't screw it up (and they can stay healthy), they might be a powerhouse down the road.

I actually wouldn't mind if the Jazz hired Sam Hinkie for some role in the front office. Guy has balls and a sharp mind. . . and a willingness to stick his neck out there. He knows how to work a deal, and he has a history working with DL (they came up through Houston at the same time.) I wouldn't want him calling the shots because I think he's a little overzealous sometimes. . . but I sure wouldn't mind having his voice in the room.

(48-31) Clips games: @SAS, HOU, SAC

(48-30) Jazz games: MIN, @POR (back to back), @GSW, SAS.

Clippers own the tie-breaker. From what I can gather, if the Clippers win out, we also need to win out.

If the Clippers drop one, we also can drop 1.

Problem is that SAS and HOU both have their seeding figured out-- they might see HOU in the 2nd round, and likely won't see the Clippers. Kangz they already lost to, and at this point they have to be tanking (unless the players are going for the spoiler, another big factor).

Jazz are playing a Portland team fighting for their lives, along with two other teams resting for seeding-- however, GSW will be getting Durant back, and you know that they want to see how they match up with the Jazz @ full strength in case Utah makes it past the Clippers. Minnesota at home shouldn't be too bad. Hard to say with SAS-- I'm thinking that might be an easier game given that Pop will want rest.

Haven't you been paying attention? The magic number is 4. Any combination of Jazz wins and Clippers loses needs to equal 4 for the Jazz to maintain HCA.

nah I've been busy :/ Today's my day off so I was just googling to figure it all out.

I got a vested interest in keeping homecourt cuz my playoff tickets won't need to be resold (probably) if we maintain it!

I just wanna know when my damn game is already

I think jazz go 3-1 and clippers go 2-1
Jazz keep HC.
Unless the jazz have hill, favors, and hood out in all these games. Then I think we lose HC.

this is what smithtix says for the ticket I got

but this seems impossible, frankly.

I dunno. If we get home court, I'll get a game 5 ticket. If we don't, I'll get a game 4. I should be fine.

Spurs have officially started the resting game. This could be big for their fine game against Utah.

In their game against the Mavs tonight the Spurs are resting Aldridge, Gasol, and Kawhi. This is on top of Ginobili, Green and Murray being out for injury.
