With or without a luxury tax? I don't think I like the idea either way. The current system is better.
No, a luxury tax would still definitely be in play. Has to have a LT.

Did I ever say get rid of the salary cap in the NBA? I just said no hard-cap, which there is currently no hard-cap in the NBA.
Hard cap is never happening.
Hard cap is stupid. I dont agree with putting a limit on how much people can make if people are able to pay them.
Yes, max contracts should not exist and nearly everyone who is smart agrees on that.
I dont believe in limiting what a person can earn if their employer is willing to pay them. It's simple ethics for me.
You are just contradicting yourself.

How?
Any 'cap' whether Hard or not is a restriction on what someone can earn...
Hmmm. I don't know. I'll have to explore both sides. My only concern is whether it disadvantages smaller teams or not.
Smaller teams are always going to be at a disadvantage no matter what rule you implement.
Not with a hard cap rule. That rule will essentially eliminate any disadvantages that the League can control.
Guys, just remember 1 thing when discussing a new idea or anything hypothetical with Cy, he will ALWAYS take the most ridiculous side of the argument and he challenges himself to WIN THAT ARGUMENT.
I think he gets off of doing it.
No, those players can stay on the team who has their bird rights and they can pay them as much as they want.

So a team can pay that player $200Million/yr can they?
Guys, just remember 1 thing when discussing a new idea or anything hypothetical with OL, he will ALWAYS take the most shallow side of the argument and just repeat it over and over again without thinking about it so he can WIN THAT ARGUMENT.
I think he gets off doing it.
The idea that a hard cap fixes anything is short sighted. It would also never be approved by any player and would be impossible to deal with unless all contracts only became partially guaranteed.
No max contract is what helps fix things. And you know small market teams love the LT too, right? You think those owners don't love those revenue sharing checks that the high spenders pay?

He wants a harder cap, not a hard cap.So I guess Adam Silver is shallow too for wanting a hard cap?
