2016 Draft Workouts!

Great post, thank you. It is a very, very nice change to have players want to come here to work out. Nice efforts by Lindsey and Quin to improve that.

I think the fact that we are the one of the teams that's played most rookie minutes in the last two years might have something to do with it. They probably see that we give chance to our rookies to play and compete without the vets being entitled to those minutes.

I swear the difference is night and day from what it was even only a few years ago.
Of the dozen or so players I know, none care about wanting to be in a big market. They almost unanimously care about quality of life .... and they're referring to family almost exclusively.

Towns loves where he's at in life.
Cousins, though he hates the Kings, would love to be loved by a smaller market (a la UK).

In fact, and like I said, none of the close to 20 guys want to simply "brand" like we saw years ago.

Reason? Salaries are strong. Social media and media itself has made the world much smaller.

I just don't think these kids think the same they did in the 80's - 2015.

Comment from me:
Interesting that a second player after Sabonis seems to be targeting Utah among a VERY SHORT list of good fits they would work out for. It seems like the organization has good reputation and agents and players like the situation for their players even if the team is stacked at their position.

Sabonis?

yes, Sabonis. He and Denzel Valentine both limited workouts to 4 teams, and he announced the Jazz were one of them. (Sorry I don't recall any others)

About Valentine:

-mainly 2, backup 1 at times.
-they don't know if he can stay with athletic 2s
-defense - work in progress

Don't like this part.
No to valentine.

To Valentine's credit, Walt Perrin literally says defense is a work in progress for nearly every college player. Hardly ever praises prospects current defensive ability.

I'm starting to like the idea of drafting D. Murray. He can play alongside Exum and potentially create a very good defensive duo. Fast too. Yes, he's primarily a point guard, but I think he could fit.

But is he an alpha #1 scorer? If he isn't we should jsut trade him for a different pick cuz that might be a high quality alpha #1 option lead guy who can score and win rings.

Skal supposedly working on his physicality. Sure it's a one-on-none workout with a coach being paid to coach and speak highly of Skal, but at least there's some effort being made to teach about taking contact.

This kid is far from reaching his full offense potential and he's already averaged more pts than Hayward in his Butler years. So HECK YEAH!!!

the interaction from the trainers was weird and awkward. Never seen that before.

By this logic I'm wondering what the hell happened to the Jimmer's career. Don't be a complete idiot.

You do know what I mean by "reaching full offense potential" right?

Both Jimmer and Buddy averaged 7 pts when they were Freshmen.

College players in recent years who averaged more than 16 pts from year one all turn out to be good scorers at NBA level(Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, D'Angelo Russell, Shabazz Muhammad, Brandon Knight, etc) with the exception of Bennett, who pretty much got crushed under the high expectation.

I'm sure Murray will be able to score fine. It's everything else I'm worried about.

Will Sabonis be competing against the ever challenging chair like Murray and Valentine did?

Yes... The chair shot up the draft board though and is refusing any other workouts after this... Rumor is he has a promise in the mid first round... This darft man it's crazy!
