2016 NBA Free Agency Talk

I dont think it was loves choice. IIRC he was traded to cleveland for a package including andrew wiggins.

And Love wasn't up 3-1 on GS then bitch out on his team instead of coming back and beating GS.

I don't blame Durant for what he did, but that doesn't not make him a bitch. Durant is weak.

Whatever LeBron did, Durant is much, much worse.

Durant will win a couple titles, everyone will forget about what he did to OKC (which in some way makes me happy because OKC may be the most despicable, horrible professional city out there and they don't deserve Durant and Westbrook), and he will be loved.

But, when he lays his head down at night, he will always know that he was a bitch. That he punked out and left his team high and dry. That he could have taken down the greatest regular season team in the history of the NBA (GS) then followed that up by beating maybe the greatest player ever (LeBron) and win a title in a small market, but instead he gave up his mantle as batman to become robin.

Durant officially took himself out of the top 10 players in NBA history with his move. Maybe out of the top 20 players ever with that move.

He will get titles, but his legacy won't ever be as glorious...unless Steph gets hurt and Durant leads GS to a title.

Good post.
I agree with almost all of it.

Free agent center Nene has agreed to a deal with Houston, sources tell @TheVertical.

2,9M 1 year

Nice deal for Rockets. Better than D12

Wade plans to sign with Chicago.

Miami will be much weaker.

Joining Golden State doesnt make Durant any less of a player. I dont see how it would. Did he suddenly forget how to shoot the ball, dribble, pass, or something? What am I missing here? Why are people actually trying to make this an argument?

You need to seperate emotion from facts. Durant is stil as good as he ever was. In fact, he will likely be even better with all that new space he has to work with. You dont think he is going to be able to do even more damage now that you cant double team him, like never. Or that he is going to see more wide open shots than he has ever seen, ever, in his entire life?

Winning will cure all. If they live up to the potential and hype, and go on to win a bunch of rings, no one is going to be saying that it dropped him out of the alltime greats. Every ring he wins, he will move up the ladder that much more.

"We need to get rid of Rose, he is too ball dominant and not a good enough shooter to play with Butler. Hey, let's get Rondo though"

So Wade wanted to be paid the Marquette price.
Butler shot 38% 1 season earlier from three, I think he's capable when he limits his yolo isolations to inside the arc.

There is a Tweet going around that is making me laugh. I hope it comes true tbh.

Basically Wade joined Chicago. That makes Whiteside rethink his verbal agreement to Miami. He bolts to the Mavs for that max they offered. That Prevents the Bogut trade from going through. Bogut stays on the GSW and that prevents Durant from signing there.

I'd laugh and laugh. It's fixable for the GSW but it would still be funny.

Even when he wins a title next year, surely it's gonna be hollow ??? He won't get anywhere near the same amount of respect as if he won it on his own team. Lame, really lose respect for a guy who runs to something much easier.

Like when Lebron went to Miami? GTFO.

PORT just matched Brooklyn's 4 year $75m offer to Allen Crabbe.

That's nearly $20m PER YEAR for Allen Crabbe.

Allen Crabbe!!!!

How much does Favors make? LOL ...

Broussard is the obvious answer to replace Skip on low salary and let him engage in polarizing banter with Screaming A-hole Smith.
His remarkable collection of journalistic own goals leading to the multiple sauces meme built his personality up to be the next ESPN doofus.

That being said I think there are similarities between KD to GSW and LeBron to Miami. KD is the most complete scorer in the league. He came close but unlike LeBron he had better support around him. The difference is just that he joins the runner up and '15 champ, whereas executive Riley had just torn down the aged '06 champs, but retooled around a finals MVP in his prime.
It just wasn't common knowledge at that point that the Heat were only good with free agents but couldn't value/utilize draft picks to keep the engine running and rejuvenate and the HEAT were 4 years removed from the title. But it was clear that with Bosh they'd be a super team and frontrunners for years(Surprisingly they got trashed in 2/4 years, needed a ring chaser to bail them out in 1 year and the only convincing championship series came in the year where Dallas tore it down, the Thunder were too inexperienced, San Antonio hadn't rediscovered their old/new identity quite yet and didn't trust their depth to the degree that made them purity eye candy a year later, the grinding Pacers were not quite there yet, the Celtics were throwing a last hail mary at them without any depth and Derrick Rose's career was sealed.

KD just went to an organization that's way more modern, much more likely to persevere, less time removed from being historic as a team compared to Miami. But I think the likelihood that this thing doesn't have an apparent expiration date is what makes them so much more unlikeable as it potentially destroys parity paired with the fact that there's no other unreasonably stacked contender.
At the time of LeBron you knew the Mavs had depth and talent as long as they stayed healthy. The Lakers were pretty stacked but you didn't anticipate they would get outplayed so hard and were content with their two in a row.
It was the last time the Celtics showed willingness to fight.

There is a difference. Lebron went to a Miami team that wasn't very good and was definitely their best player and wanted to contribute and be the main reason Miami would win a title. Miami hadn't just barely beat LeBrons Cleveland team in the playoffs.

Durant left his very very good team to go to the best team in the league to try to be gifted a title. The team that just beat his okc team in the playoffs (when durant and his team choked away a 3-1 series lead) The warriors could win the championship without durant. No way that Miami team wins the championship without lebron.
