What's new

2019-20 Utah Jazz Roster

That's fine... what has to happen for Middleton to sign here?

- He either has to pass on the addition $50M Milwaukee can offer or they have to decline to offer it (Giannis is a free agent... can't lose his second fiddle).
- He has to bypass more desirable markets that have cap space and good competitive situations both LA teams and Dallas probably fit this bill.
- He would also likely be on the radar of big market eastern conference teams like NY and BKN. Could definitely argue we are a better situation for him and he doesn't seem like that is what he'd want.

So will we pursue? Sure. Are we a pretty big long shot? Yup. If Milwaukee ponies up the 5 year max or close to it I am not even sure we get a meeting.
I never said the odds are favorable. But he's who I am most interested in, and I trust that DL has a better idea of what falls into the realm of possibility.

I don't expect it to happen, but I want it to, and there is actual evidence of interest from the organization that legitimizes the discussion. That's pretty much it.

here is my plan

Trade Exum to the suns for Mikal Bridges and Dragen Bender (bender is a throw in to make salaries work that is all)

- Exum would actually be a good fit with a shooter like booker (Although he sucks shooting this year)
- Jazz get a young wing that could eventually play with Mitchell in the back court or push Ingles to the bench

Then trade Burks and Favors for Porter Jr and Oubre

- Washington's dumps a ton of salary by only using Oubre to get it done

Go into the offseason with $93 million at a $109 million cap (maybe a rookie draft pick) ***phoenix may require it

The Jazz could have potentially 14 to 15 million in cap space to offer I would offer it all to sign Malcolm Brogdon from the Bucks (buck would ahve a hard time matching that and keeping bledsoe)

Brogdon, Neto (second round pick or a vet min player like dellavedova)
Mitchell, O'Neale, Allen
Ingles. Bridges, Oubre
Porter, Crowder, Niang
Gobert, Danile Gafford (first round pick??????), Bradley

That would be my plan Putting 3 players that can shoot 40% from 3 pretty consistently with Gobert and Mitchell would open the floor like moses parting the red sea. Defense to come in off the bench but can still score

My biggest fear is that Rubio is going to play just well enough that DL decides to bring him back on a 15-18 million per year deal. He's showed signs these last few games of turning the corner and at times this franchise has a seriously hard time letting players go. I like Ricky and when he's on he definitely helps us win but I think we can all agree the fit just isn't great. I would much rather use that cap space elsewhere.

If we strike out on any free agents, look for the Jazz to bring in Millsap on a somewhat inflated two-year deal to 'keep the powder dry.'

Our powder is dry AF.

Ask Dallas about free agency... Ask Philly how it went this year in a less compete event cap environment. Chicago, Miami (except for the big three), etc have all had years they missed. We have a small chance at success at the big guys... but could use that space for some really good players now... maybe those deals are still there this summer but I’d rather take advantage of other teams banking on the hope of free agency.

I have a "major affinity" for Margot Robbie, but much like the Jazz for Middleton, I don't have a chance.

But if you squint a bit and look at KK, she kind of looks like Margo... it's the Jazz way!
