2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Okay, so follow along with me really quickly -

- So the Lakers are going to try to trade some or all 4 of their young core (Lonzo, Kuzma, Ingram and/or Hart) and picks for Anthony Davis.

- what if, just if, Kuzma refuses to go to New Orleans? What if he demanded to go to Utah if he leaves LA? Think he could force New Orleans' hand to where Kuzma goes to us as a 3rd team and we send New Orleans a **** ton of assets?

High or drunk?

Thabo + Neto + Dante + Allen + Niang + Bradley + Udoh=zero trade value

Hey, that's near half of our team

I wish. SLC Dunk is the worst, I can't stand them.

My favorite is when they talk trades... none of them have any clue on how the cba works.

They are funny sometimes and I have enjoyed some of their stuff. They get a little overreactiony and mean spirited.

I just wish there was a way to confiscate their verification, and appearance of legitimacy. Honestly, the constant meltdowns and general mockery of journalism are kind of embarrassing as a Jazz fan.

Yeah they are very much fanboy ammatures... that part is a problem.

I mean, it's a fan blog. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

Its just funny how invested the head guy over there is in Exum. Before the year he was predicting Exum to be the Jazz's 3rd star and how he would have a big year. Now any time Dante plays bad he ignores and blames others. When Dante plays well he says "I told you so" an rants how he needs to play more.

You blame Dante for everything. Start blaming the guys that play 30+ mins that are playing ****.

We gotta go get D'Angelo Russell. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nothin...dangelo-russell-era-brooklyn-nearing-end/amp/

"But whether the Nets attempt to recoup some sort of asset or assets in exchange for Russell or simply let him walk away as a free agent, his departure from Brooklyn is now a matter of when rather than if."

I don't see any internal options because I think Exum is a tweener PG/SG. Rubio isn't the answer. We can't trust some rookie draft pick next year.

Go get Russell

David Locke recently did a piece on acquiring Russell, and listed some shocking catch and shoot stats (he’s really, really good at corner 3s and mid range, like top 10 in the league or something). He’s a poor finisher at the rim and shooting off the bounce. He inferred that he does better off the ball than as being the primary handler all game.

I think he’d be a pretty nice little 1-2 combo with DM and as the 1 with the reserves for the right price.

Exactly. I think he is the best long term solution at PG that is realistically attainable.

And for those Rubio homers, I dont think this has to mean the end of him either. Its conceivable that we trade something like Bradley, Niang, Neto and our 2019 1st for Russell after January 15. Brooklyn is phenomenal at player development and might see value with Bradley and Niang.

At that point, we just move Rubio to an expanded Neto role and let Exum play the sixth man PG/SG role.

Right.

So let me get this straight.

"You dont give a rats *** about a 30 game sample size". But when it comes to Jabari you chose to use it anyways. Then you try to justify it by referencing his ...what, rookie season? Or what, the years he tried to make his way back from ACL tears?

He is still 23 btw.

And what are you referencing to think he might someday be good? His draft position? His religion?

Jabari, btw, is now out of the Bulls rotation. 4 and 0 minutes the last two games.

Sounds like an Exum fan.

There's a possibility here that the Jazz have been trying to acquire personnel that fit Quin's system rather than just getting the best talent possible. There's nothing wrong with that, and the Jazz have a consistent culture and set of priorities. The problem is when the players can't actually do enough of what Quin needs done in order to win. These bad shooting nights aren't aberrations anymore. They're all too frequent.

Here's a name that might be attainable -- Darren Collison. He's small, and he's on the wrong side of 30 years old, but I think Indiana would be willing to move him. His deal expires this year. It's probably better for the Jazz to think longer term though.

Longer term, it may be in the Jazz's best interest to groom Mitchell as a PG. He doesn't need to be a pure, natural ball distributor, and he doesn't need to be ball dominant. He can be like a more athletic version of Chauncey Billups and be just fine. His ability to get his shoulder by his defender and break the paint, plus his passing ability, make him capable to play the PG.

Exum needs to keep working on his body, keep working on his shooting and probably be a point-forward type like (a poorer version of) Andre Iguodala. I'm just not sure if he'll ever quite be a starting caliber player.
