2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I specifically said AFTER they lose/trade AD. Before they do it, Jrue is not going anywhere.

Ahhh... yeah they won't move him until the summer doe.

BTW some experts think NOLA hates LA and won't do business with them... may have been a joke because of Rams Saints, but some think that the LA offer would have to be way better than anything else on the table to get the Pelicans to bite.

I'm not certain an AD trade = a rebuild.

I think they would likely go for a retooling around Randle and Holiday with the pieces they get from a Davis trade (Boston would make this doable with Brown/Smart/Hayward centered trade)

Chances hayward is a Pelican next year? I say 50%... makes my heart so happy that it really could happen.

I think this may be correct... if they don't change out the GM or sell the team... they are dumb and short-sighted.

When I really look at the numbers and play-style, Conley is a perfect fit for Utah. He's use to playing in a slower system, he's great in the PNR, his catch and shoot numbers on open shots are fantastic, he has excelled in two big lineups.

His contract matches up perfectly with Utah's long-term plans. He will expire when Mitchell and Gobert are up to be re-signed. You can keep Conley long-term at a cheaper price (if he's still good) as a starter or back-up.

I just don't know if Utah can get him with how people rave about him and his value in trades. It seems like he's going to get a Paul George type trade. Utah can do Exum/1st/Allen/Filler, but I don't know if that's the best they can get.

Utah could then turn around and flip Rubio for a guy like Mirotic (maybe?) or maybe to Phoenix for some kind of future trade assets.

He's good, but he's also a meh shooter. He plays in a hyper offensive system that produces a ton of open looks and has shot 33% the last two years. He shoots the same percentage as Rubio does on wide open looks on the same amount of wide open looks.

If you want to improve your offensive ability, I think Conley is a far better option.
Our system creates more open looks than NOLA's(I haven't checked but last time I did we were among the leaders in the league in creating open 3s). I also believe Jrue is a better shooter than Rubio. He also shoot much tougher 3s than Rubio. Almost all of Rubio's 3s(85% over the last 2 years) are on the catch and with Jrue it's about 65%. He's not shot great last 2 seasons but historically he's a much better AND much more versatile shooter.

Also... It's not just the shooting. Unlike Ricky, he can actually finish at the rim... (67% vs 55%)

I agree with you about Conley though. I would love to have him on the roster.

This is surprising to hear coming from you.

But I'm all for it.

Sure, but I'm not sure he is a much better shooter than Rubio. And i don't think Utah's system creates more open 3's. There's a lot of noise in Utah's open 3's because we have some players who are left open. New Orleans really gets up and down and everyone has a green light to shoot in transition.

We overpaid Favors this summer. A more fair contract going forward would be the almost $9 million or so the full MLE would give him. We could even give it for a few years which gives him long term security.

If they can get over getting traded for the betterment of the franchise AND they love it here so much, I think they could get over it. With them plus trade targets, we could be a better contender.

The problem is they’re human.

lmfao at the idea of Favors being a MLE player, that's way more of an underpay than his current contract is an overpay. He's on a very fair contract. I think if he played full-time center, he'd be looking at 15 million per year type offers.

I mean, I could see a Holiday/Hayward/Brown/Randle/? being pretty fun next year.

Won't be fun for Robyn and certainly not what Gordo signed up for... and his old college coach rejecting him... it would be so great.

Easily. As a PF he ain’t worth much. Somebody’s going to get a steal that signs him and plays him at the 5. It won’t be Utah, though.

I hope the NBA has progressed to a point that teams know how good Favors is in the right role and value that when looking at the trade market.

MLE is basically 10M doe... so 10-15 is a fair range. The position is so deep, but I do feel he is under valued and his numbers would be pretty good as a starting center/roll man.

I just got a text from my buddy who works with the Millers auto group. Looks like Favors and Exum for Beal is on the table.

Jazz pursuing Otto Porter according to Shams.

I hope Jazz wouldn't be throwing in any assets in these talks. Like Faves and Sef for OPJr. No picks. I guess Bradley if they wanted him. That would be the only way I could wrap my head around that deal.
