2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

My main concern would be why is he playing about five minutes less than last year?
Two reasons: (a) different coach and (b) team in win now mode, not development mode. He's still raw, not good enough for rotation minutes on a good team, he'd be more of a replacement for Tony Bradley than Favors at this point. Would be suited to somewhere like PHX where wins don't matter and he can get court time and develop, which is why he asked for trade - his timeline and Bucks' are out of sync.

Thon Maker is an example of why you dont draft based on mix tapes, gotta like the bucks swang for the stars with that pick though.

Could work somewhere in the rotation but if he is after more mins than he currently gets probably not a good fit.

Idk. I've seen some quality thongs. Must be a good maker of them somewhere.

I like Conley as a player but I just don't see how we can realistically be in the market for Conley.

Mike Conley (31 years old): $30,521,115 $32,511,623 $34,502,130 for this year and the next two seasons.
Otto Porter Jr (25 years old): $26,011,913 $27,250,576 $28,489,239 for this year and the next two seasons.

I think Porter is the better fit from position flexibility, need, age, contract.

I really want Porter. He is not an explosive athlete by any means but he is a good all around player that I think is a great fit for the Quin and the Jazz system.

Not that Lindsey or Quin cares for my opinion, nor any of you for that matter, but I vote no on Conley and Porter.

In other news, I read Jabbari Parker is likely headed for a buyout. Bartlestein seems to have a knack for landing his clients big pay days AND put them in bad situations .

Not that im wanting Parker. And i dont think jazz can do anything big until Lakers, Clippers and Boston make their moves for Anthony Davis, and the losers bid for Marc Gasol.

I really don't know, but I just really want to at least hear they threw a big trade offer for so-and-so or we see it go down even if it bombs. Or we publicly offer big to a tier 1 player, or high tier 2 (like was discussed about PG) even if he totally rejects us. Because at least we can see they tried something

Yeah the team is fun to watch but I want nothing more than to see a championship in my lifetime. With these non-moves we always seem to make we'll as the norm, I likely never will.

You understand that people don't give away championship quality players for a combination of Favors, Thabo, and Rubio, right? Even if you add a late first? A championship caliber player will take a Gobert and/or a Mitchell going the other way. I have to believe that we DO call after every big trade target, but they probably want stuff back that we don't want to give. Also- If people on the team hear they are on the block, they generally don't like that. So even if there were the beginnings of a trade that got shut down, the Jazz aren't going to talk about it.

Conley is so underrated. Of course, we'd have to trade Ricky if we got him. Ricky and a first probably wouldn't be enough, but who knows. Ricky is a lot younger and first round picks are valuable but salaries don't match. We'd have to include Favors. I think someone earlier said Ricky and Favors for Conley. Both are much younger, so maybe it would work. But would we want to do it?

I'm not going to pretend I know much about Thon Maker, but I heard a lot of analysts say that he is 1-2 years from turning out. It could possibly be him needing a new scenario.

Utah gets Conley (30.5M), Porter (26M) and Satoransky (3.1M) and thus add 59.6M. We trade Favors (16M), Rubio (14.8M), Exum (9.1M) Sef (5.2M) and Bradley (1.7M) for 46.8M and a 1st going out.

Memphis gets Rubio (14.8M), Sef (5.2M) Exum (9.1M) and Bradley (1.7M) . The Grizz free up a ton of money in all this (~26M) and would have first dibs on Rubio, Sef and get two young guys in Exum and Bradley. 38.5M out (Conley, Temple) and 30.8M in should barely be within CBA guidelines.

Wiz get Favors (16M) and Temple (8M) and our 2019 1st. 29.1M out (Porter and Satoransky) and that 24M plus the 1st rounder in would work.

I didn't get super specific with contracts and work it out to the hundredths or thousandths place but this seems like it would or wouldn't barely work within CBA guidelines, one way or the other. Barely. If someone wants to do exact math.

Conley-Satoransky-Neto
Mitchell-Korver-Allen
Ingles-O'Neale
Porter-Crowder-Niang
Gobert-Udoh

Our playoff core.

Need to clear a roster spot for Jabari if he’s waived. TB has played like 30 total NBA minutes. Trade him to some team under the cap or with an exception for a second rounder or even take back someone we waive.
