2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Lol. No. They can't stop anybody. AD is good, but he doesn't take a team from worst in the league to title contender.

I mean, you understand that Booker and Ayton are contending for worst team in the league, right?
That roster is intentionally constructed to be that bad. It's easy to find solid glue guys, problem is finding three stars.

Hopefully AD gets traded anywhere other then LA. **** LA LeBron and their fans that think they're entitled to whatever they want.

I'm rooting for the Knicks. I know it's unlikely, but I'm still going to root for them. If the Knicks can use their 1st rounder, Knox and whoever else: AD + Porzingis + another high profile player would be good for the NBA.

Anything but LA

Yep. The NBA needs a franchise tag for at least one season.
I wonder if they could negotiate some sort of reverse trade kicker where if a player approves a trade they forfeit a percentage of the remaining salary to the team that is trading them. So, rather than requesting a trade, a player would basically have to say they were willing to opt in to the reverse kicker.

Interesting thought. It is kind of bs that a team like NOLA might have to eat a bunch of money because they have to trade AD.

Look at this LA deal. NOLA might trade AD for Lonzo, Kuzma, Ingram and Zubac. Due to the financial restrictions, the Lakers still have to send more in contracts which means NOLA has to waive/pay people to go away for a player they probably don't even want.

And I love the idea of the player having to give something up in your suggestion. In Europe, a player forgoes a certain portion of the transfer money when he "Makes a Transfer Request". The NBA needs something like that.

The crazy thing is that Boston can't trade for AD until Kyrie either is traded OR decides to decline his player option for next year. So before Boston can even really target AD, they have to wait on Kyrie. It's entirely possible that Kyrie gets a major injury and decides to pick up his player option for next year. If that were to happen, Boston would have to trade Kyrie for AD and why would NOLA do that?

And without Tatum, New Orleans has to look elsewhere.
Why would new Orleans do that? Isn't Kyrie better than Simmons or kuzma or Ingram or whoever? And Kyrie is definitely better than AD leaving for nothing right?

If you trade for Kyrie he is just going to walk at the end of the year. So, even though he is a better player, NOLA would rather trade for players that will be around for a while.

They probably would have to include ayton or Booker in the deal

Is Boston going to trade Kyrie for AD? I think the answer is no.

But let's say they do. Is Kyrie going to stay in NOLA this summer after being rumored to be interested in NY and LA (if he didn't stay in Boston)? I think the answer is no.

Kyrie for AD just doesn't make sense. Now if there was a 3rd team....

Of course you wouldn't.

I won't get in a Tatum v. Mitchell argument but I think it's safe to say Boston views Tatum similarly to how Utah views Mitchell.
I would trade DM for AD though if I knew AD wanted to stick around

True, but I would say that Boston has a history of getting great players and building championship teams. We don't. Mitchell is the most exciting young player we've probably ever had. If Boston traded Tatum, they would still have Kyrie. I love Gobert, but Kyrie is a superstar to go along with Hayward, Horford, etc.
