2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I don't think we have the assets to get Green without Favors and probably more. Detroit already has better assets for a Conley deal alone. I don't think he's better than Favors either.

I get what you're saying but it looks like Green only has a year left on his contract and I doubt he resigns. Would they really care that much to lose him? Obviously we would still have to give up more but I'm not sure it would be a crazy amount. Maybe Rubio, Sefolosha, Udoh and Niange plus a 1st rounder?

The most obvious trade in the world to me is Tobias to the Jazz for Favors and a protected first.

It’s the guy we want and need and in Favors it’s a dude they keep long term as a starting 5 and a pick for a guy who likely doesn’t wait around for them to see if they get the guy(s) they really want.

Am I taking crazy pills here?

If I'm Doc Rivers, I'd love to replace Gortat with Favors. He's the perfect complementary 2-way big.

This trade offer is really pretty good. If NOLA does accept it, they are going to have to dump 3 or 4 players prior to making the trade so they can open up the necessary roster spots.

Or find a 3rd team to absorb a player.

They could, but who in the East is going to trade a starting caliber C and a 1st for an expiring?

Harris to Utah makes a ton of sense. The Clippers are actually very bold if they don't trade him for something like Favors and a 1st when they could lose him for nothing.

For a half year rental? The beauty of Favors is that he has that team option for next year. If you need him to be an expiring, he can do that too. You might get a slightly better pick, but not coupled with a serviceable player. You will get back something like a Plumlee on an inexplicable 3 year contact.

These guys summed it up.

But to your last thought "that could turn into 4 more years", sure, but are those teams willing to risk that like we are?

Again, I dont think anyone else is willing to offer a top level starter and a first like we should/could AND take the risk of his UFA.

But, GM'n is huard.

Possibly, I don't know that much about Memphis's roster and situation, or Green for that matter. At this point I'm willing to throw in what you've mentioned plus O'Neale and/or Allen. I think a lot of our spare parts suck and we need to consolidate and upgrade.

You just asked if the Jazz will ever pull the trigger, then said they should go after Tobias Harris. That waa ironic because Harris isnt Allstar quality.
You really don't know what ironic means.

Agreed on Mirotic, 1st and expirings for him only. No way I take Jabari at all. I still don't get the fascination with him
Mirotic gives us that stretch 4 we need on offense but Favors gives us the muscle and heart we need on defense. In the end the impact would be pretty even thus making a trade pointless.

I always go back to when he played for the Bucks before the injuries. He was a beast! Honestly, I haven't watched him much this season but if he even somewhat resembles the player he was before the injuries, I think we'd get a steal. He's only 23 years old and I'm not surprised his shooting numbers are down in Chicago with the lack of talent that forces him to create his own shot. He wouldn't have to do that as much playing for Utah with defenses main focus being Mitchell. Parker would get more open shots and we'd have another player who has the ability to create his own shot which we lack. I think he's the perfect fit for the Jazz if he can stay healthy.

nba.com has removed play-type stats temporarily but I'll see if I can find it on another site
Not having much luck as I don't pay for sites like Cleaning The Glass, but some tracking stats anyway that help paint the picture

Conely with a touch time of longer than 6 seconds has an eFG% of 57%, he shoots 51.9% on shots less than 10ft from the rim, he's a 40% c&s 3pt shooter but is only 32.5% on pull ups (ideally you'd want Mitchell taking the pull up shots when need be), on 7+ dribbles he has a 57.9 eFG%.

Thabo and 3 2nd rounders for Julius Randle: http://tradenba.com/trades/r1xHRN8VE

NOLA can waive Thabo to make a roster spot for their blockbuster with LA. Randle has a player option this summer he likely declines since it is under $10 million. NOLA saves $2+ million too.

Expiring Rodney Hood went for 2 2nd rounders so it might be realistic that expiring Randle could go for 3...

I mean I'm just a schlub on the internet, but it seems pretty likely that that 4 year contract will not be with the Clippers. . .
Why? As it currently stands I expect the Clippers to flop in free agency and max out Harris.

Maybe? I wouldn't bet his $20m contract on it. And definitely not Favors when he's proven to be reliable. Take a flyer on him if he gets bought out otherwise I think he has too many question marks on him. And I can't see his defense ever getting better than mediocre or neutral.
