2020 Free Agency Thread

DL bought some really expensive filet mignon for dinner. He also has a bottle of really expensive wine. Just in case the filets weren’t enough meat for people, he bought some ribeyes for a side. There were some really tasty mashed potatoes, cream corn, and an awesome salad he could have bought and had cash left over, but was now out of budget since the ribeye purchase. Everyone wanted some good sauces but he’s got some honey mustard from McDonald’s in his glove box, and it’s stupid to pay money for a sauce from the store when it’s just honey mustard.

All-in-all, I’d say the sauce isn’t so bad because DL was able to get creative with his limited resources.

Oh, and he had to leave an I.O.U. For the disposable plates.

Bruh you can always get disposable plates later... quit being a whiner. They are disposable you are supposed to throw them away.

Isn't there supposed to be a second round pick in there or something? Didn't he also give away one of those rib eyes for a half a baked potato?

In case there's anybody still on the "bUt TheRe oNly sEcOnD rOunDerS~" trash:

We got Jordan Clarkson with two second rounders and didn't even send an expiring contract. We just dumped twice the draft capital to correct the ledger and probably still didn't hit the target.

We can always get those seconds though... always... it’s a well of eternal seconds. It’s really easy.
 
Apparently the Hayward deal is now a sign and trade involving a couple of 2nd round picks landing Boston a huge trade exception.

Easy...If they are picks in the 50s......

We tried our hardest to get those second rounders during 2016 and 2019 and ended up with 4 picks in the 50s, aka the scurb territory. The price on picks in the 30s or even 40s are getting ridiculous nowadays if you pay attention to the market.

Pretty sure we gave away one extra second round pick for them to take on Ex's bad contract

Yeah, the idea that you can buy them during the draft when people need to dump them doesn’t help one mid-season. So unless DL plans on including hand jobs, we don’t have any incentives to close deals. The same people saying it doesn’t matter that we don’t have any second rounders now are going to be the same people later rationalizing how DL couldn’t make moves because we didn’t have any assets.
