2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

In other news, I listened to Andy Larsen and Eric Walden’s Weekly Run podcast talking about trade or FA targets. They talked about a lot of guys we aren’t and didn’t talk about any of the guys that we are (sans Baynes who they agreed was perhaps unrealistic). Mentioned Richaun Holmes who I’d say would be even more unrealistic. Names were guys like Alex Len. They did mention Udoh, which, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m totally cool with. But they were closing the podcast up and I was about to close it out and get me of them said “now I know what to get you for Christmas [referencing something else]” and then one said “a Georges Niang cameo.” I chuckled at that.
I’ll give it a listen. Kings won’t trade Holmes... especially not for what we are offering.

Len for Davis straight up would be nice. Len is ummm let’s say well... very physical and is a huge human. His contract is expiring so we’d get some third center assurance but on an expiring deal. They might do it to have a vet and they have infinity cap space next year without a lot of good uses for it.

Watched all of Vonleh's shots this year on the NBA.com stats page. This is not official, but basically every three he takes is wide open. Teams are daring him to shoot. He's made 2 of 14 this season.

He’s got solid form on his shot and let them fly in NY... not sure what is going on this year... maybe they don’t want him shooting it?

His shot is not the main reason to try and get him but there is some potential there... maybe? If we are considering Baynes a three point shooter then it’s worth mentioning on Noah.

His per minute numbers look a little better than I was anticipating. Maybe I’ll go watch some highlight videos and talk myself in to him.

Mavs might look for a big man now and they have expiring contracts and the GSW second round pick... which is pretty nice. Wonder if they get in on Thompson or try to swipe Morris away and ruin @infection ’s day.

We are going to have a hard time getting something done... the middle bad teams don’t want to give stuff up and there are a lot of buyers when the bad teams actually start selling. I’m preparing myself mentally that this might be our team come playoff time... so I’m going to embrace the warts.

PGAB rated Len a 99 coming out of the draft.

So, yeah. Obviously.
At some point I’ll bet he had some grainy footage of me in jr Jazz and thought I might be one to watch... he’d tell you he saw me first...

He’s a hatchet man but he’s had some moments of being effective on defense and offense. Surprisingly his foul rate was lower than I anticipated. I doubt he gives up and 1s like TB... because his fouls are the type you feel the next day... I’ll bet he starts a fight if he’s in the playoff rotation for someone... so maybe he gets LeBron suspended or something.

Has higher scoring averages than I thought. Shot the three well last year. Moves well after setting screens. Unfortunately this doesn’t show me what I really want to know: lateral quickness and mobility.

Len was sneaky good last year. I have no idea what he’s been up to this year. I’m pretty easily convinced he’d be our best backup center as long as he’s not a dunce (which he might be)

Once Clarkson happened it closed the door on Morris. That’s fine. I’d be willing to have him if he was willing to take the same role he had in Boston. But he probably wants a big contract from a bad team.

Watch the video above. If he can do that every night (I think he can based on what I’ve seen), I think we’d be sitting pretty. Get the banners ordered.

He’s more of drop 5... can protect the rim... like Tb he’s mobile for a huge human but not quick imo.

Just so I’m clear... when you say you think he can do that every night... you want him to get 33 points in approximately 16 minutes a game? Tia

still trying to convince people that players A, B and C who are either out of the league right now or will be out of the league comes next season will serve as an "upgrade" over Bradley lol

Yeah, I mean 16 is probably all he gets. Gotta keep Rudy out there. Pretty unrealistic to expect him to come in and drop 50 in 25 minutes every night.

Ed Davis for Grizz's Josh Jackson. Grizz is actually a team under the radar for being super thin on their front court. And Ed would add the much needed depth and vet experience to help them make their final playoff push. Grizz are not in any kind of championship timeline or financial restraint so they probably wouldn't mind paying that one more year for a fan familiar player who had spent a good year with them previously.

And for us worst case scenario we send Josh Jackson to the stars to let him finish the last year of his contract. So we have the room cleared to make moves in the summer. Or even better, if Quin can set Jackson's head straight, he might be useful given the kid is clearly talented.
