2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

His main problem is that he doesn't shoot well. He hasn't become an efficient scorer. I get that he can be a roll-man. Love the size, athleticism and energy, plus his ability to put the ball down and create a bit. He has some of the same strengths and weaknesses as Julius Randle, though he plays more defense.

I have no idea if Orlando knows what they're doing.

I love the player (AG) but hate the price tag. Anyway it would take both Clarkson and Davis and picks to make it happen. WAAAY too steep IMO. Always liked Randle and was singing his praises when he was affordable but now again he decimates our roster. Markieff Morris makes sense if we could cut a deal. Best case scenario though is Kyle Kuzma for Emanual Mudiay and whatever IMO. They need a PG, and Kooz could be that longterm power forward solution we've been looking for. He, Mitchell and Tatum were the cream of that draft. The Utah connection, the youth, the Clarkson connection, it all makes sense.

He was never ever on the Jazz radar. Several Jazz insiders have been saying so for months. And that outburst shows exactly why.

Markieff is probably a no go for the same reasons.

Josh Jackson is another name brought up here that won't happen. The Jazz don't want knuckleheads.

Yup, it was never going to happen. I was surprised when Lowe suggested it as a potential move for the Jazz.

I think that we make a mini trade. Anyone for trading to get Ricky back, lol? It's funny, that with the improved shooting with additions such as Bogey and Clarkson, Ricky would actually be a much better fit with this current roster.

We can’t trade Clarkson for AG. The salaries don’t match and Clarkson’s salary can’t be aggregated with anyone else’s.

You would trade Conley picks for AG plus a bad contract.
That doesn’t work. You couldn’t even trade Clarkson straight up for AG because Clarkson’s salary is too low. Adding picks does nothing, and adding junk salary from Orlando furthers the salary imbalance in the deal.

If you want AG, then you’re trading a salary like Ingles.

Conley

Orlando needs shooting and an alpha which they get in Mike Conley. But yeah they would get better deals. But would they want Andrew Wiggins? Orlando hates long bad deals.

why would we want to trade Clarkson? He is the scoring punch we need off the bench and he is another shot creator. The trade for him was a steal.
I agree. I like him on the jazz. Only reason to trade him that I can think of is if the jazz don't think they can re-sign him this off-season

generally don’t know how this works but we traded with firsts for Conley, are we even able to do picks at this time? And I’m sure Orlando isn’t interested in picks 3-4 years down the line.
Maybe 2nd rounders?

The only probable scenario is that we may try to get rid of Davis and acquire someone at the buyout market. Doesn't make sense to discuss trading Conley, it's not going to happen.

I would love if the Jazz swung some real moves at the deadline but will feel really good if they can just get rid of Ed Davis' contract and get another big off the scrap heap.

And yeah, I'd trade Conley for AG and whatever their dedest salary is. Aminu?

In any case, I'm sure there would be plenty of teams with a better offer.

Within the past year he had some kind of kerfuffle with police. Not a huge issue, but a bit bizarre. He followed that up with being charged with getting an infant high. That wasn’t even a year ago. But I really like Josh Jackson the player. Every time I’ve seen him play, I’ve thought he was going to be really good, and I’m always surprised when I look at his stats because on the court he looks like a guy who’s probably putting up really good numbers. Even in games he plays against us he looks really good even when the stats don’t say it. He’s a guy I’ve thought would turn out good based on small eyeball samples. He may be a guy that can put it together and be a good redemption story. We all like redemption stories. But I can tell you spending half a year in the G League isn’t it. That isn’t rehabbing. It’s way too soon and there’s no way this franchise would sniff that being less than a year away.
I'd agree with you before last night. But last night Josh Jackson just played 28min on a grizz team that is trying to win this season. Even though they lost badly to the pels, they put him in when the game was still close and he ended up playing more minutes than every grizz players off the bench. If he can stay in grizz's rotation, I'd say he's way ahead of schedule and worth our consideration.
