2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Len is kinda intriguing... Think he might be as good or better than TB at the things TB is good at.

Comparing him to Baynes as a three point shooter... Len 33% on 284 career attempts... Baynes 31% on 214 attempts. One thing with Aron... we should not consider him a three point shooter.

If we can flip Ed and a second for Len I do it.

I'd say that even if Len still fouls as much as TB, he could be better simply by fouling hard... like, intimidating hard. And hard that they have to hit two free throws rather than getting an and 1.

Also, **** the second rounder. Hopefully Atlanta is one of those teams that was "interested" in NWG.

He fouls way less than TB... and he gets his money's worth every time.

I'm going to go ahead and say Len is our most realistic "maybe there is something there or he can catch lightening in a bottle" guy. He has a streaky three point shot... shot 50% one month this year... shot 40% after the AS break last year... which is the same as Baynes. He's a tall human who can still give us the offensive rebounding that TB gives.

Again atlanta has infinity cap space... Ed would cost them $4M of that infinity on a one year deal and is a vet presence. A second would help grease the wheels a bit... we can see how Len does in our system it might be a good fit and we can keep him around if that is the case.

Keep an eye on Glenn Robinson III for Golden State tonight. He could be a sneaky pickup for the Jazz at the trade deadline. He's playing starter minutes and put up 14/6 with 1.3 stls in his last 5 games. He's shooting 39% from 3pt. He'd give us another versatile defender for our 2nd unit, which might help us survive with Tony Bradley as our backup 5. He's about 6'7" (with shoes), 225 lbs and can guard 4s.

I think some team is going to pick him up.

His D is good? When I hear his name, I think of his dad and his dad's body and think, "no, that dude can't defend the way we need him to."

He's probably about as good of a 3 and D option as any that we could get. I think they'd like to keep him for next year, but not sure how they do it capwise as they don't have bird rights and likely have better options with their exceptions.

I think he's a better option than Niang in the playoffs.

He's cheap. He's on a min 1-year contract of $1.6M. That's like NWG + 2nd to do a deal. He'd spell Royce and bring a lot of the same things to the table.

They still owe us a favor or two for helping setup their dynasty. I think we could flip Mudiay to Minny for their trade exception and cutting a little salary would help GSW to drop enough below the hard cap to sign Ky to a minimum deal. Word is they want to dump Evans... I'd take a flier there if GR was the sweetner.

If the Spurs are going to trade out DeRozan or LMA and call it the end of an era, they might also trade us Poeltl, who is on the last year of his rookie deal. Defensively, he's better than Bradley, though I think the Jazz like Bradley.

I'd feel a whole lot better about Bradley if I knew GRIII was on the court as the big wing instead of Niang… My biggest worry is we won't want to put anyone in front of those guys because they are our development projects.

Poeltl is out of our price range asset wise. I think he'd be a part of their re-build... he's restricted and I could see a team like the Hawks making a dumb offer for him, but he likely stays put.

Poeltl is much better on D than Bradley. But I agree with HH: we ain’t getting him

There may be some interest in Ed Davis by Dallas, considering. They could give us a second and pay for him with exception money from the Harrison Barnes Trade. I'd do that all day. It would probably get Davis on the court as well.

If they want they can flip the GSW 2nd and Courtney Lee's expiring for Tristan all day. Unless they want to keep Ed on his cheap deal for next year that'd be a much better option I think. They could just do the exception for Ed and I think we'd do it.

I doubt the team wanna burn any more 2nd rounders at this point though. Especially Ed's contract probably isn't considered nearly as "bad" to most teams that aren't on any kinda championship timeline or cap restraint. Worst case scenario we trade Ed for some rights to international players that would never come over. It'd be a major ovekill if we have to throw in 2nd rounders just to get rid of Ed's contract.

I think you are right... if we want to move Ed’s salary we will be able to do it next year... lots of bad teams will have space and won’t find enough young free agents or vets on one year deals... someone may take him for nothing or if he had a mini revival at some point someone may through in a tiny asset. If we need to clear a roster spot we can move Mudiay somewhere or cut NWG.

If someone wants to send an expiring I’d do it though... just in case nothing else materializes.

Cleveland, Detroit, Atlanta, Charlotte all will have a lot of space and might want Ed to fill out the roster... he doesn’t cut into our space at all because we are using the MLE or BAE... just want to duck the tax if possible.
