2020 Presidential election

All Americans are set to vote for open borders. We can’t wait to have our private insurance taken and provide insurance for illegals. Make sure you sign us up for higher taxes too. Socialism? All in. Gun control puts it over the top. Democrats will win in 2020 because everyone wants their great policies. NOT

This is true if you ignore everything the candidates say about anything other than Trump. I will grant they don't have a platform that's as easy to nail down as the ever so nebulous "Make America Great Again."

Conservatives are clear where they stand (and are surprisingly unified) on the economy, illegal immigration, healthcare, abortion, and international trade. That's why they're backing Trump.

These are the real issues Dems will need to debate on. Trump's insensitive tweets, while disappointing, aren't significant enough to deflect from the real issues.

Are you under the impression the Democratic candidates don't have stances on these issues? Or are you confused about them not uniting under a single banner nearly six months until the first primary?

The democrat playbook...'Lie about everything'!...'Use the freshmen democrats(the squad) to lie for you'!...'Find Rinos who will lie for you'!...'Find world leaders who will lie for you'!...'Find late night talk show hosts that will lie for you'!...'Find newspapers that will lie for you'!...'Use the hollywood has beens and young wannabes to lie for you, they'll do it free for a photo-op'!...'Use the brainwashed university students and their professors to lie for you, because universities no longer teach truth'!...'Use facebook, twitter, google, yahoo, etc. to lie for you, because there's no truth in them, so they do it all for free anyway'!...Just lie always, and make 'the prince of the power of the air' proud of you, o children of disobedience{Ephesians 2:2}.

You angry?

You fall for the propaganda, hook line and sinker.

I'm under the impression that there's a faction within the Democrats who support Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren's leftist social programs, while others see those programs as completely implausible.

I'm under the impression, judging from the early debates, that the majority of Democratic candidates are willing to offer much more open immigration, combined with socialized healthcare and welfare programs that cover those immigrants. Whereas, moderate Democrats, including Obama and Clinton, would never have supported this.

I'm under the impression that there's a faction of Democrats who believe that Joe Biden's seniority and centrism gives the party a chance to contend with Trump, while others feel he's "too old," "too white," and "not woke enough," meaning he doesn't give the party an identity they believe in.

No, I don't think the Democrats are unified right now. They need to find a strong, unifying candidate, they need to find common ground within the party, and their proposals have to be viable. Even so, they could do all of this and still lose to Trump in 2020 because they're not as strong on the economy and trade.

Of course they aren't unified right now, the first primary is, again, six months away. I don't understand your point about there being policy differences between the candidates, that's very much to be expected as it's been the case in literally every primary for both parties since the beginning of time.

I also don't agree with the contention that Obama and Hillary would "never support" universal healthcare or more immigration. Whether or not illegal immigrants are included in "socialized healthcare" is a relatively minor detail that depends far more on the makeup of congress than any single politicians stance on the issue anyway.

You are right that democrats could become unified (and likely will imo) and Trump could still win. Racist rhetoric and empty promises can still win elections in the good old USA, and he does have the massive incumbent advantage of inheriting a strong economy.

Do you honestly think Wayne's World quotes make your arguments stronger?

Exactly.
This is what I find so funny. Republicans are like "Democrats don't have a strong platform or a candidate."

Oh you mean a good candidate like Trump (lol) and a strong platform such as?

The notion of republican unity under trump leadership us poppycock.

Many Republicans abhor both trump and his policies.

Many are for free trade (not trump protectionism

Many are patriots, not xenophobic nationalist

Many are for fiscal restraint and balanced budget (not trump spending like a drunken sailor)

No republicans, trump or otherwise, have a health care plan. Republican romneycare became Obamacare and then was dubbed socialist.

Many are for immigration reform, against building a 9th century ineffective wall, and are for dreamers.

Many are for working with allies (versus insulting and alienating them).

Establishment republicans hate trump. Some choose to stroke his ego because of his populism and how he tears people down.

Trump won because dems stupidly and arrogantly ran HRC, a status quo candidate during from the swamp in an election that was all about change.

So on the economy they are united in making the rich richer and not worrying about the national deficit. Great.
On immigration they are united in being against it and detaining and harrassing non whites. Awesome.
On healthcare they want it to continue to be too expensive and generally suck overall.
On abortion they are united in wanting to have control over women and their bodies. Cool
And in international trade they just want that to be more difficult and complicated and expensive.

Right?! Easier just to ignore the millions of "never Trump" conservatives. Doesn't fit the narrative.

Don’t let facts get in the way of propaganda.

Speaking of propaganda - Bipartisan Senate Report: Obama Failed to Secure U.S. Election Systems, Trump Admin Making Progress. A bipartisan report by the Senate Intelligence Committee documents how the Obama administration did not take effective action as Russia worked to target the U.S. election process.
The same report shows that, under the Trump administration, U.S. agencies have made significant progress in working to secure election systems while vulnerabilities still remain. Hmmmm wonder why Obama sat back and let Russia interfere with the 2016 election, and President Trump is working to correct the problem. Haven't you socialist on here told us Trump wants Russia help. Another lie I guess.

Hmmmm wonder why Obama sat back and let Russia interfere with the 2016 election

Well, that statement is a little disingenuous. I've mentioned this more then once. It's part of the history, and should not be overlooked when considering the history leading up to the 2016 election. Apart from the fact that before the 2016 election, Obama told Putin to his face at the G20 summit to knock it off, while just recently, Trump joked with Putin about Russian interference, quite the difference between the two men in how they viewed a Russian attack on our nation, we should not forget Mitch McConnell's role in scuttling efforts to denounce what Russia was doing, and his doing so prior to the 2016 election. Obama wanted a joint declaration from Congress condemning Russian interference. McConnell refused to go along with that plan.

https://www.kentucky.com/opinion/editorials/article120718538.html

"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should explain why he blocked a bipartisan denunciation of Russian interference in our election before voters went to the polls.
Americans deserve to hear why McConnell did not trust them with the evidence that he and 11 other congressional leaders received in a confidential briefing in September.

The Washington Post reports that during that briefing McConnell “made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics.”

McConnell also questioned the veracity of the intelligence, according to the Post......."

A friendly greeting at the Sept. 5, 2016 summit:
