The conventions certainly had more value historically than they do today. Has there been a primary that really went to convention in the modern age? I don't really think so.

The post convention swing that candidates get has been diminishing in the modern era. My suspicion is that the party conventions will take a back seat to the virus, economy, the last 4 years of corruption, and whatever fire Trump sets next in the next few weeks.

Really, I wonder how many Truly undecided votes are still up for grabs?

I also wonder if anyone will be persuaded by the conventions of both parties while the pandemic still rages? My guess is if they were already leaning towards one of the candidates, they probably were voting for that candidate anyway. How many voters were anti trump and then after last night saying, “gee I know he was impeached, and kids in cages was bad, and yeah the pandemic response has been a joke, but Melania’s speech! Wow! Four more years!”
 
I imagine 99% of voters are decided, even if they say they aren't. Looking at you guy I know who has only voted republican in 4 decades but identifies as an 'independent' and will swear he's undecided up until the day of the election.

one would think... but then again, these are some of the trashiest people in our country. All they care about is “owning the libs.”
 
Also, I don’t ever want to hear about cancel culture or how right wingers are picked on. How the hell is Jacob Wohl not in prison? I know he’s dont a lot of ****. But wasn’t he also the dude who was laying women to falsely claim that Robert Mueller sexually harassed them?
 
I think Trump made a mistake in thinking he needed to speak for more than an hour (and counting) tonight. This speech has been all over the place.
 
That was one of the most, if not the most, delusional speech I have ever seen a politician give. Goodness.
 
Can't believe people actually watch these things (political conventions or whatever these DNC/RNC circle jerks are)

I don’t care who you are, I don’t want to listen to anyone talk for over an hour. Brevity would have served Trump better.
