I think the Jazz are likely to move off their pick at #30 this year. I think there will be a lot of interest from teams to acquire the pick, and I think the Jazz are under pressure to improve the roster while maneuvering within the luxury tax. I think there will be opportunities for the Jazz to move up, or to move back for multiple picks. I'll actually be a bit surprised if the Jazz stay at #30 this year.
Roko/Thor/Murphy are good value picks in the 20s that might motivate the Jazz to make a move. If the Jazz stay at #30, there's value in taking a guard.
If I'm the Jazz, I'm also tempted to trade way up for Jalen Johnson or perhaps Moses Moody, though I'm not sure the Jazz have the right pieces to move up that high. New Orleans is reportedly looking to move #10 for a veteran. NOLA also has both #35 & #40 in the early 2nd round. Pacers are reportedly willing to trade out of #13 for a veteran who can help them this season.
Recent FRPs traded --
- 2017: packaged with Trey Lyles to move up from #24 to #13
- 2018: stayed at #21
- 2019: packaged as part of the Mike Conley trade
- 2020: trade back from #23 for a later 1st (#27) and early 2nd (#38)
