2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

This has probably been discussed before, but does anyone have thoughts on a potential Bojan for Bledsoe + #10 trade? NOP has been said to be looking to trade their picks for vets.

Bledsoe was awful last year but I think he’s a player the Jazz might be able to revive a little bit. If Conley is back maybe try to move him for Eric Gordon?

I don't think that's a make Zion happy trade.

Hopefully, Jazz can stand their ground this time around and not trade the 30th pick until draft day during the draft, that is if they decide to trade down. Anyway, it'll bring in more value for other teams if a player they like comes falling down to our pick. That way, we can hook in higher 2nd rd picks. Last year, DL got schooled on how it's done and traded way too early.

Bledsoe's inconsistent shooting and declining athleticism are probably a dealbreaker.

Yeah I’ve been pitching something like that… @LoPo threw out Gordon as well. I actually wanted to see if you could do JC instead with Favs going to a third team (likely OKC and you swap 10 for 18 or something). I don’t mind Bledsoe with or without Conley but if you have JC too that’s not great. Bring Bledsoe off the bench and he can ramp up his minutes when Mike needs to sit. I think the hate has gone too far on him.

A make Zion happy trade is a win now trade. That’s why they are open to trading the pick.
I guess Bojan can fit next to Zion and Ingram in some rotations, but I still feel it's kind of awkward. I just don't think Bledsoe is a great fit for us either. I worry about his regression.

I agree on Bledsoe. I think we can revive him. NOP had no spacing and something was seriously off with the culture there. It’s weird to see a bunch of young guys who are all good friends have such turbulence chemistry wise.

JC and Favs would be interesting. I don’t think it’s crazy to think Bledsoe could have a better season than JC if he was with us. Not sure how these trade packages stack up around the league. JC’s value is peaking (peaked?) and Bledsoe is at an all time low. Not a bad time to do something like this.

The real prize would be the better draft pick and I don’t really see the Jazz making this type of move unless they see the next Mitchell. If they do, hopefully it’s not the same as seeing the next Gobert and picking Doke lol.

I think Vrenz Bleijenberg is going to be able to defend 2 - 4. He's got good length and anticipates well on defensive plays. He's not lockdown, but he's disruptive.

So he's got passing, defensive potential, and he shoots well when he balances himself and gets his legs under his shot....instead of winging the ball off balance, which is a terrible habit he has.

Born in 1997, 24 year old (just 2 years younger thna Dante Exum) Chris Duarte has secured an invite to the green room...

Chances he shows up lookin like

I refuse to believe that Vrenz Bleijenbergh is in play for Utah in the first rd...

Simply put that just seems like some sucker **** that I aint buying....

cmon now... anyone who thinks that must not have a decent grasp on the talent level of the feild/pool

Just for curiosity's sake, looked at 25 mocks (some more reputable than others) updated within the past week. Between them, 16 different players were projected to be picked at #30 by the Jazz:

Thor (4 mocks)
Dosunmu (3)
Ayayi (2)
Todd (2)
Christopher (2)
Grimes (2)
Butler
Brown
Hyland
Mann
Murphy
Nix (hmmm ... wondering if this mocker was just trying to get a favorite prospect into round 1)
Preston
Primo
Robinson-Earl
Thomas

I think a mock or two have shown the Jazz taking McBride at #30. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's the pick.

If the Jazz buy a 2nd round pick here is a guy maybe worth taking a flier on. He played at Loyola Md and put up stats in the Patriot League: "Santi Aldama is one of the European prospects most talented of the generation, able to dominate in and out of the paint, face and back to the basket, extremely important aspects when it comes to aspiring to be an NBA player. A fair comparison with him could be Lauri Markkanen for that combination of talent for shooting and scoring from outside in as well as certain gaps in defense."

Vrenz may not be in play for the Jazz at #30. He's in play for other teams drafting in the 30s though.

Vrenz is probably a role player, but his ability to create in pick-and-roll at his size is pretty unique. He shouldn't be a defensive liability either. If things work out for him, he could play a role like Joe Ingles or Hedo Turkoglu, a complementary, play-making wing.

Yeah, I didn't look at all of the possible ones (such as the ones I don't subscribe to; I don't know what the Athletic, ESPN, or Chad Ford, for example say). And perhaps some of the mocks that once had him to Utah now don't?

But yeah, he's certainly in the mix if he's still there.
