2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

I agree.

Bojan is playing with a great supporting cast in a system that moves the ball.
Kuzma is playing with LeBron who doesn't like him.

And I'm a LeBron guy, but if you don't mesh with him, you don't excel. Look how bad Lonzo, Ingram, and others fit with LeBron and look at them now.

I'm telling you guys - buy low on Kuzma.

Look at them now? Underachieving with Zion? Zion will probably make the playoffs when they trade those dudes too lmfao.

Oh, yeah, I agree with, Buy low on Kuzma.

There is no ****ing planet that sending Bojan to the Lakers for Kuzma is buying low.

Do you realize that my proposal includes 2 1st round draft picks also coming from the Lakers?

You must be fun at parties.

Yes, a late first rounder this year and another first rounder in 2026.

That's not what a win now team needs. Stop with your fantasies that Mitchell is somehow OK with the team getting significantly worse just because you have a fetish for draft picks.

*plus I dont even think the lakers can trade this year's pick because they traded their pick last year and they have their pick for 2022 traded already. So not only is your trade moronic, it's not even legal*

Stop with your fantasies where you pretend you know what you're talking about.

They can make the trade during the draft Cy. C'mon.

This is why I like the idea of trading Favors. Favors is one of my all-time favorite Jazz players but he is a shell of his former self.

I'm wondering if Thor is going to be the sleeper pick this draft. Lots of upside.

I think JT Thor has the highest upside of anyone we could draft in the late 1st round. He would give us a defensive presence we haven't had since we played Favors and Gobert together, and he should be an adequate enough shooter and offensive threat to maintain our floor spacing. Jazz should definitely be looking at Murphy and Thor as high priorities in the late 1st.

Jazz are co-hosting a massive workout for up to 48 players in Minneapolis, July 8 - 11.
Here are the preliminary names slated to attend... Click to see the entire Twitter thread.

Included is the Belgian Chocolate, the Mercedes Vrenz, AK48, our guy Vrenz Bleijenbergh.

Co-Hosting? It says it's in Minny and for all 30 teams. I'd call that attending.

Can we stop talking about Kuzma? He's a rotation player, but he's not a difference maker on either side of the ball.
Most of the guys in this draft you're debating hope to be what Kuzma has been. How many NBA players average over 15ppg and 5rpg their first 4 years? Probably a pretty small list all things considered.

I like Roko, Kevin Murphy and JT Thor over Kuzma as a starting point. None of those require us giving up a player and helping the effing Lakers.

Here's Roko just a few months ago -- 38 pts, 6 3PMs, 10 rebs. He's got a bit of Gordon Hayward and a bit of Kevin Love to him, and he's only 18 y.o. I'd have a hard time seeing the Jazz pass on him if he's available at #30.

The Jazz have had a habit of drafting older players with the idea that they're more ready to contribute. But then those rookies don't really play in their first or second season anyway, which means the Jazz could have developed a younger, more talented player instead.

For example, Grayson Allen was older and more "ready to contribute" than Anfernee Simons and Gary Trent Jr., but in reality he didn't actually contribute more in his first few seasons than those other guys. Dok and Hughes didn't play at all last this year.
Well to be fair but Udoka and Hughes got hurt and they had no summer league at all. The big problem was the Jazz signing Favors. If they had really believed in Udoka once he was healthy he could have taken Favors minutes. Hughes is a second rebound pick. He was picked to be developed but his injury put him farther behind. Add i the new revelation that Quin is Jerry Sloan lite when it comes to his rotations. Simons hasn't blossomed into anything and did Portland trade GT this year.

Signing Favors was fine. He should have a bit of positive trade value still, and the Jazz like to carry three bigs. GT has contributed as much as Grayson Allen has, and he has more ability to play on the ball.
