2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

I was just going to say that. He looks like a 6'10" Joe Ingles with a fraction of the charisma. Why look for a 3rd string point when you can give this guy the ball by mid-season without sacrificing flexibility.

He can hit just about any pass on the floor coming out of that high screen/roll. For a team like the Jazz that likes a big wing who can initiate actions, he seems like a pretty obvious fit. Plus he can hit Rudy with a high pass anytime he wants.

My husband plays hoops with some of the guys in Front Office and they told him if Ayo Dosunmu is still there Jazz will select him. He a Chicago guy and Wade a Chicago guy and they are basically letting Wade run the show and have a say on players who should be drafted and picked up. Not sure if it's wise. Does any other team have a minority (percentage, not race) owner who is so involved with the outcome? I've heard Jazz could spiral out of control because to many people making choices instead of one guy making the final choice

I like Roko, Kevin Murphy and JT Thor over Kuzma as a starting point. None of those require us giving up a player and helping the effing Lakers.
Those players could help the jazz in the next couple years like Kuzma can . unreal how every year we see young guys struggle later into season and veterans seem to perform better.. even Suns with their young guys like Cameron Johnson And Mikal those guys played 3 and 5 years of college hoops. If you think those players you listed would be more valuable to the Jazz next year you are crazy

Stop with your fantasies where you pretend you know what you're talking about.

They can make the trade during the draft Cy. C'mon.
Really stop it with the dumb trade ideas. Just go buy a PS4 or XBox and Get NbA2k and make all the trades your heart desires

I doubt those guys are telling the truth but if it is, I’d be down with this. Decent size. Plays fast. Gets to the line a lot. I’d have some concern about his shooting (he doesn’t seem like he gets a lot of lift and might struggle with nba distance idk) and his defense as he’s not that long.

Can he defend? The problem last year wasn’t with the offense. We could score. We just couldn’t defend. Once the Clippers went small, it was either a wide open layup or corner 3

Quin needs to play our young guys much, much more this year. Even if it means sacrificing a couple wins and seeding.

They need to play. And frankly, we quite obviously don’t need to burn out any of our rotation players, pretty much all of whom, could use a lighter workload for one reason or another.

If Jazz take do manage to get Dosunmu that might mean they will not re-sign Conley
Donovan /Dosunmu is starting backcourt?
Two DWade type combo guards

He's long, mobile and active enough to defend. He needs to add strength and work on his technique. In terms of sheer measurables, he's in the same ballpark as Andrei Kirilenko. Vrenz has a 7'2" wingspan compared to AK's 7'4". Vrenz is reportedly an inch or two taller than AK.

Kuzma isn't very good. He's a streaky shooter, iffy rebounder, and bad decision-maker with the ball. If you want to sell me on another veteran player, go ahead, but I don't think Kuzma is our guy.

Ayo wouldn't be a bad pick in my opinion. He's a strong, athletic combo guard with size who is ready to contribute. As for Conley, here's David Thorpe suggesting that Mike will move on to another team. Dallas has some interest apparently, as does Miami. A bunch of teams have cap space, and it's a lean FA market overall.

I don’t get the obsession with kuzma. Is it because he played at the U? He got his best numbers in a terrible team. His shot sucks, he’s weak, his effort isn’t there, and his Bball IQ seems really low. He seems more passionate about being in the NBA than being an NBA player.

He’s Trey Lyles 2.0

Kuzma has outperformed some fairly low expectations, and being in the LA market means he gets overhyped.
