2023 NBA Draft Megathread

The latest Intel is creating a clearer picture. It looks like Washington will pick Black at 8 and we'll be picking Hendricks or Walker at 9.

Could all be smoke screens, but it feels like the message is getting more consistent.
I'd add Ausar to that list. Guessing today on the guy that falls - Black/Hendricks 20% shot at falling each... Walker/Ausar - 30% shot at falling each.

I'm good with any of em.

IDK, I think I've spent way too much time on draft analysis that I'm nitpicking and now I'm focusing on how each prospect might dissapoint. I'm having hard time feeling excited about anyone.

They're all going to bust!

That’s what it seems like. Walker or Hendricks. I guess the only question is if Ainge is content taking whoever falls or wants his first choice of this tier.

Somebody listened to Locke today!

Not that TJ has huge insight or that anything is set in stone... but it sounded like they would move up only if the cost is reasonable. Otherwise they are good at #9. Take that for what it is.

I think its reasonable. If we can move up to #4/5 to get Cam using only one future pick I think we do that or if its a shocking deal like when we moved up for Don where everyone was saying "that's it?!?"

Ha ha, I actually haven't yet. I just think every prospect has a pretty wide range of potential outcomes. We typically get excited about their high end outcome that we envision, but for whatever reason at the moment I'm stuck on everyone's low end outcomes.

Nitpicking and contextualizing the flaws is more important than liking every prospect.

It's important to remember that the majority of these guys were freshman in college and shouldn't be expected to be finished products.

I'll admit I'm not the best at understanding which deficiencies are most likely to be corrected with NBA coaching, spacing, and time.

I’ve soured on all the trade up targets and am content to see who falls at #9. I guess the other question is if Ainge likes two guys at #9 does he trade for #10.

I would give up 28 and some change to move from 16 and double dip. Bilal, Wallace, and Bufkin would be worth it for me. I wouldn’t count on those 3 being there at 16.

Bilal needs to demand the ball more. All the elements are there but his fear or tentativeness is a red flag. If he can break through that he could be special.

I've been on this corner for a while. I think the more efficient route to improving our draft position/quality is moving up from 16. That 10-14 range has been a sweet spot in the draft for a while so double dipping there would be my preferred route. Hopefully it is cheap to get up there... 16, 28 and some light cap flexibility seems like the low price to get it done. The high price would be 16 plus another unprotected pick.

Yeah... tell Wemby to get out the way!!!!
Lol, totally. Man 5 years from now maybe they will be rivals..karma does some interesting unanticipated things.

Bilal will not outright bust. He will help win on the defensive end and he can get playing time quickly. He may just be a rotational scrub but even that can help this team win.

I will say I don’t understand the let whoever falls to us fall and pick them. If there is someone we like that we can move up for reasonably let’s go get that guy. **** letting other teams dictate who we get.

Moving up to me is too costly, there isn't a player who would be available worth moving up to get. I think all the players have flaws and I just think the talent difference isn't that great. What I am looking for is guys who can play defense, length, athleticism and work ethic/attitude. Not willing to take a chance on guys who have knucklehead disease. Jazz need guys who will come in work, play team ball and talent. Jazz need to be patient. I know the Jazz didn't make the playoffs but we had JC and Sexton hurt the last month or so. Jazz where in many close games. Their defense was just bad.
