2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I was wrong it was cam whitmore they compared to brown

Cam Whitmore (Villanova, SF, Freshman)

NBA Comparison: OG Anunoby/Jaylen Brown

Depending on how Cam Whitmore’s self-creation evolves over the next five years, he could look like OG Anunoby or Jaylen Brown.

At this point, he still mostly relies on outstanding strength and explosiveness for scoring and racking up easy baskets. But he’s also trending upward as a set shooter, and unless Whitmore totally struggles to improve his defensive IQ, his 6-foot-7, 232-pound frame seems like a lock to help defensively and allow him to guard ball-handlers, wings and bigger forwards.

A baseline projection envisions an Anunoby type who’s more of a third option than one who’ll carry a team’s offensive workload.

Gradual honing of his skills could lead to the second coming of Brown, who combines overwhelming tools and athleticism with capable self-creation and three-level shot-making. The strides he’s made with his jumper suggest his scoring development may be worth betting on.

We definitly need a big ( too weak against Embid player type...) and a good wing.

Embiid isn't really a player type. He's 7'1", 280 lbs with diverse inside-outside skills. The Jazz wanted to offset his scoring by spacing the floor and penalizing him for staying near the paint defensively, but they weren't able to. There isn't a big in the first round of this draft who will slow him down more than Kessler might be able to.

I agree with you for Embiid. But im not sure Kessler can be a starter level, even if he show some good things. We will never know but i would have love to see the current lineup + Bogey.

He's averaging 13/13/4 PER36 as a 21 year old rookie, he can definitely become a starter, IMO.

He's already starterish level on D. He just wouldn't be a very impactful offensive player.

My thing with him is just the lack of vertical explosiveness limits him if he's only going to be a rim runner. He could see major body improvements though and make strides to be becoming a more skill based offensive scorer

needs to extend his jumper to the 3P line

Just to clarify I understand you are like most people that think a bonafide superstar does not have to carry his team to a championship, and that I am in the minority in that regard. Suggesting my post are bad, is only more proof of you not understanding the bar I use for what is actually a superstar. There are plenty of likely superstars that have the goods but don't get it done ior just haven't I will give you that. Ja, Luka , Joker. Outside of those 3 who could still do it but haven't I can't think of anyone else I would consider a superstar in the NBA other than those who have lead their teams to rings.
Chuck is not a superstar and never was, Great player not a superstar get it?

Stop dumbing down the board with your stupid posts. By your reasoning Malone, Barkley and Ewing were never superstars and guys like LeBron, Durant, Shaq, Jerry West, David Robinson and Hakeem didn't become superstars until they won a championship. Those guys were all superstars well before they won titles and you won't find anyone besides you that doesn't think Malone, Barkley and Ewing were superstars. Unfortunately for those 3 they ran into a prime MJ.

Kessler is a good platoon guy. Not an every night starter. Maybe he becomes a good roll man in the mold of like Willy Hernangomez (going low level here) and survives off putbacks and running fast.

I have zero hope for him as a shooter. His motion has a lot going on and he hasn't shown much ability from the line. Maybe he gets a baby hook like Robin Lopez that helps if teams switch small guys (maybe he has it already?)

Although that makes sense to most people. Clearly you think I am dumb for being stubborn about it.
It is absolutely true imo, that no player no matter how good they are on paper, or how much they entertain you, are deserving of being considered supermax level, have their own commercial ,superstars if they have not carried their team to a championship.
Example is similar to NFL QB's : Mahomes is a superstar and Allen is just a really good qb that hasn't done **** yet.LOL
If you cannot win on the biggest level you are not a superstar, you just a allstar that lost.
